Guest guest
After suffering with worsening chronic pain for the last 10 years I had the EMG and other tests redone in the past 3 weeks and got diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. I had done the same tests about 8 yrs previously but no clear diagnosis was found then only borderline abnormal results. I had 25 blood tests done to find the cause of the neuropathy and it seems I have some vitamin deficiencies as my niacin, b12 and folate levels are all low. My zinc level is too high but copper which is usually related to the zinc level is normal. I cant figure out how I could have an elevated zinc level. If anyone can shed light on this I would greatly appreciate it. I know zinc is used in many products such as toothpaste and makeup, but how does one get too much without taking supplements? I cant think of anything I am ingesting that has it. I have started supplements of the vitamins I was low on but the pain has worsened since I had the EMG tests and gotten the diagnosis. I am also under enormous stress, worse than anything I have been under as I have found that the attorneys and accountants who I trusted in my interminable divorce, and who I have paid so much money to, are really working for my husband. Now I know how he doesnt need his own attorney, can represent himself and can pretend to be indigent when in reality he is a millionaire. The shock of having the attorney and accountant betray me during depositions last week is more than I can handle. I almost didnt make it home from the attorneys offices after that deposition. After an hour of rest in a dark room I felt able to drive myself home but I havent been the same since. I already take antidepressants so I havent felt the full impact of depression from this horrible trauma but the pain overall has gotten out of control.I find I cant take even one step without terrible pain down my right buttock and thigh. This is the first time I have even had pain in that spot, I usually have awful back pain. I have spinal stenosis, two herniated discs, and nerve impingement in my lumbar spine and its worse on the right side according to the MRIs, so I wonder if this is the cause of this new right thigh pain that wont go away or lessen. I cant get out of the house most days and dont know what to do as I feel desperate and I cant come up with any answers. Today the pain is worse than yesterday as I cant even watch TV and I am shaking all over. Just typing this is incredibly taxing. Any suggestions would be welcomed. I already take vicodin, tramadol, amytriptiline, and in between the doses of straight vicodin, tylenol. I have gotten the shakes a few times before and am wondering about that too and what it might mean. The blood work I had done showed all else with me was normal. ie; liver function, glucose, C reactive protein, ESR, etc.. and anything auto immune was ruled out. It seems that everything in my life is undone and I dont know where to turn anymore. a
Guest guest
There's zinc in diaper rash creams. I'm sorry you still have not gotten past this divorce business. The stress of the fight is worse than if you didn't fight it. Hope very much that you can put this behind you and move on with things that you want to do and need to do, just for yourself. Probably is your back causing the leg issues and who knows what else. You really are not being treated for chronic pain properly. Those low dose medications aren't meant for long term use. Do you have a pain specialist? Guest guest
a, Wow, I don't know about the zinc elevation but zinc does effect the nervous system. I typed in Causes of Zinc elevation on the internet and several sites came up. I will post a couple of the links but you might want to check the articles out so you can see if you match any of the situations. I hope that it helps and you get better. http://www.idpas.org/pdf/4223.pdf http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/minerals/zinc/ These articles state it is concentrated in water, smelting plants, and denture creams such as polident etc. Also, Zincs relationship with Calcium might make it look high. So I hope you find the culprit and get better. Let us know how you are doing. Bennie > a H wrote: > I cant figure out how I could have an elevated zinc level.
