Dried cranberries are the best. She should make them a regular part of her

diet to keep uti¹s at bay. It will also help get rid of one.

Collodial silver should help.

I agree that your mom should make a glass off cranberry juice part of her

daily routine. She could add one cup to a quart of water and drink it

throughout the day to avoid the sugar impact.

It seems cranberries are pretty low in sugar. The taste is the most horrible

thing in the world, it is so tart and non sugary. Besides that I read that it

has to be a certain amount of the juice so that your urine reaches a certain

acidity, I don't know if one cup spread out throughout the day would accomplish

this. I am not sure though. I have been looking into urva ursi but then the

question becomes: pill form that is standardized or liquid that is more easily

absorbed.

Or the raw herb?

The problem with consuming juice without the pulp is that you lose out on

the fiber intended to slow the insulin release. I try not to drink any

juice straight anymore.

Years ago my cat had a urinary infection so bad that it bled. I took

him to the vet for lab tests and was given pills of some sort. It

didn't work and I took him back one or two more times. I was not making

enough to live on much less deal with this so I called the vets said I

couldn't afford anymore and that I was going to have to put him down.

He said that really all that was required was to make the bladder acid

and a cheap easy way to do it was to sprinkle ascorbic acid (vitamin c)

on his food until it stopped. It worked.

Whenever I've felt an infection might be coming on, I've done the same

for myself. No infections.

One of my UTI remedies is to drink 1 cup distilled water with 3 tbsp of lemon

juice and 1 tsp baking soda throughout the day.

I also keep uva ursi dried herb on hand for an infused tea. I add peppermint and

stevia ...delicious and effective!

I used to UTIs and kidney infections all the time.  I take cranberry pills and

they have kept me infection free.

Uva ursi is a great herb for uti's, and there are others as well. But

if someone continues to have a regular occurrence of uti's, then they

need to dig deeper, as something else is not right in the body.

That is why juice should be drunk with sea salt. Ray Peat says 'no pulp' but

with sea salt to help with adrenalin rush.

Hey,

First, i am in no way giving you medical advice. with that in mind:

As an acupuncturist i have successfully treated many patients

with uti over the years. herbs can knock it out very quickly and very

effectively. there are a handful of formulas i draw from. which one will depend

on the patient. if your mom develops a rapport with a reasonable acupunturist in

her area, she can keep some herbs on hand for the future. that way she can nip

any uti in the bud if/when one arises. and obviously rid herself of the one she

has now.

the really GREAT thing is that many of the chinese herbs used for uti also help

treat yeast infections. therefore unlike antibiotics, there is no secondary

problem that arises from yeast infections after the uti is gone. of course

antibiotics can sometimes be a godsend. hope this info helps

I find that some vitamins or vitamin additives cause burning urine. I don't

know which ones but seems like it might be B vitamins. So she may want to take

a look at what vitamins she is taking and see if taking a vacation from them

makes it better.

There are some chewable cranberry supplements that are delicious and help me

when I have problems like that. I've read some think that urinary tract

infections may be autoimmune. DMSO is approved to treat cystitis and is

supposed to be effective. In treatment it is put directly in the affected area

but since it moves quickly through the body it may not be unreasonable to try it

topically, like on the navel and see if it brings relief.

Thanks for all the suggestions. After I posted my question, I was reading a book

on natural healing that actually said it's not the acidic affects of cranberry

juice on the urine as I had read on the internet but it's the cranberry juices'

affect of making the bacteria not adhere to the mucosa that helps the body fight

infection. Who knows if this is right but I wanted to come back and share my

research. She ended up taking urva ursi and I had read that it's the leaves vs.

arbutin alone that is important to take. Also I read vitamin C is good and

goldenseal.

Thanks!

This is also the effect of taking a few grams of D-Mannose every few hours for a

day. Clears up most UTIs. Croxton has a video:
