Guest guest
Joanne, It's not the carbs (like with diabetes) that matter with Candida. . . it's Sugar and Refined grains - where the hull is stripped away - like white rice. Brown rice is great . . . whole grains, like oatmeal and whole wheat are great too. Coconut milk should be good too. The idea is to rob the fungal organisms of the foods they thrive on, then they sicken and go away. Rogene
Guest guest
Joanne,Any time you're starting and antifungal - like Caprylic Acid - start slowly and work up to a therapeutic dose when you feel comfortable on the existing dose. . . If you try to hit it full force, and you have a big fungal issue - you'll be miserable! You can start probiotics (slowly) now - or wait until you've finished the antifungal . . . You probably won't see much progress until after you've finished the antifungal though. You'll need to stay on probiotics for a long time.Hugs,Rogene
Guest guest
Joanne, Definitely add in the probiotics. They will be like warrior soldiers in there fighting the nasties along side the caprylic acid. So sorry to hear you are struggling with this so much! How about Vitamin B-12...have you used that to see if it helps with energy? Patty > > I am wondering if anyone else had trouble with Caprylic acid. I cannot > seem to get up to high doses. Guest guest
Thanks Patty and Rogene, I should have known it was this bad when I have days on the couch and I can't do anything but watch old movies. I am much better now after 3 weeks on the Caprylic Acid. I am taking B12, thank you. And I will add small doses of a probiotic. I am so thankful for you all. Guest guest
Joanne, Don't stop looking for answers if you are not feeling better after months and months of detoxing and treatments. It's hard to know sometimes if we are doing all that needs to be done, or just need to wait until our chosen therapies do the work they are supposed to do. This may be all you need...and I certainly hope so. But if not, keep looking, and don't forget to check out hormonal imbalances as a possible area of concern and see if a little boost is required for you to feel your best. I will say a prayer that you feel ready to go back to work when you have to! Patty > > > > > > I am wondering if anyone else had trouble with Caprylic acid. Guest guest
Hi Patty, I actually went off my bioidentical horomone for a week now because I am afraid that the Progesterone feeds the candida. I am doing a little better, I think, as I lowered the dose of the Caprylic Acid. I have questions about the diet. Some websites tell you not to eat any grains at all and to do an Atkins like diet. I tried that and found that my feet swell up due to the increased proteins and I feel just aweful. I do feel better on brown rice and some other complex carbs. What is your view on this? All else is so good in my life. I am not herxing so badly anymore and am actually ballroom dancing one night a week as well as going to the gym and working part time. I would hope that I would feel better after 4 years! Thought I would never see the day! Thanks again for your dedication. Guest guest
Joanne, I have tried a cookbook called The New Natural Healing Cookbook by Bessie Jo Tillman. She has an 8 week detox plan that includes some grains (brown rice, amaranth, quinoa and a few others) but no fruit. I don't think that you can buy it at the bookstore, but you can google her name to contact her there. Many of the recipes are family friendly and easy to make. The absence of fruit was hard for me, so I am doing The Maker's Diet, which is very similar only with limited fruit choices. I don't believe I have a candida issue, so limiting the fruit isn't as critical. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I was off my bio-identicals for a few months, but I have added it back in as of yesterday and already can tell a difference for the good. So, while I understand your concerns, (though I am not aware that progesterone feeds candida?) keep tabs on how you feel and maybe if you notice anything untoward with your lowered hormonal levels, you will know what to do. I firmly believe that a diet low in gluten is a healthy one. I think that gluten is an issue for alot more people than realize it. Low glycemic gluten free grains would be the best choice. You can eat a grain free diet that is not high in proteins, too, and this would focus mostly on vegetables, rice and fish. In my opinion, this would be the healthiest diet of all. (Kind of like the Okinawa diet, or the diet of those living on Okinawa.) Joanne, I am really glad to hear you are feeling better and getting out more! That's great news. Keep on healing! Guest guest
Thanks Janine, I will look up this author. It is really hard to change diets but I am so much more awake and alert since going off fruit and all sugar. Guest guest
Can anyone recommend a website that speaks informatively and accurately on treating this. I had a lot of mercury for a while and supposedly these creatures go hand in hand. I have spent some time on Candida in a few books I have but I want other sources. Guest guest
Well, healthy saturated fat like coconut oil ? :-) Coconut oil is a highly processed oil solid at room temperature with a whopping 92 % saturated fat. ( 14 % for olive oil ) Second : Coconut had a very low smoking point (350F / 177C) turning this oil into a toxic product loaded with trans-fat due to its major oxidation. Trans-fatty acids increased from 0.1% at baseline to 14.5% after sauteing and shallow frying and 15.8–16.8% after deep frying. =================================== Cancer : it was found that diets containing 3% sunflowerseed oil (polyunsaturated fat) and 17% beef tallow or coconut oil (saturated fats) enhance tumorigenesis as much as a diet containing 20% sunflowerseed . ================================================= Heart disease : Study showed saturated fat in coconut oil impaired anti-inflammatory ability of HDL cholesterol. Researchers from the Heart Research Institute in Australia studied the body response from eating meals containing good fats versus bad fats. Participants were fed with meals prepared with either coconut oil (high in “bad†saturated fats) or safflower oil (high in “good†polyunsaturated fats). After only 3 hours, researchers found the participants fed with the coconut meal high in saturated fat had a significantly reduced blood flow due to arteries’ reduced ability to expand. After 6 hours, researchers found that the good high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol’s anti-inflammatory properties had decreased after the saturated coconut meal, but improved after the polyunsaturated safflower meal. The results of this study were published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology in August 2006. ==================================================== What could we expect from a product with 92 5 saturated fat ?/! you can’t even put it on your skin : it gives skin cancer but it could be good for your hair ! Thats all folks ! To see the effect of heat on fats and the rate of oxidation see : http://jmbblog.com/2009/02/15/the-cholesterl-myth-and-heart-disease/. ===================================================== She also advocate a lot of dairies :-) Funny !!
