Cheryl,

A visit to your dentist is in order. He/she may be able to identify

and treat the problem.

hi everyone, now before everyone

says prednisilone does that, my trouble started before I went on any medication.

I lost my taste buds about two months before I was digonsed with AIH. my

tongue becomes very red and sore, some times it lookes like thrush. the

doctors are at a loss to explain it.they

all say it must be thrush and treat it as such but it never quite goes

away. It settles for a while then flares again. at the moment it is very

sore, but I am also weaning off of prednisilone, so I think it might

realy flare again. HAS ANYONE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS.

I Guess it's been over a year now ... They gave me some of the same meds you

get when you go before a dental filling or pull to wash out my mouth and numb

it ...I'm sorry that I cannot think of the med ...

It Lasted about a month and until now when I hear different people talk about

it I now Know it's part of Reiters ... I had the best meds besides the best

test to try to discover what was wronge...

it went away in a month and we still don't know WHY IT EVER HAPPEN ...I had

every test (almost) that you could imagine ...2nd home@hopkins

Another surprise from Reiters...

You can only deal with it and hope it goes away in time ... can't taste

anything ... dinner is like eating brown paper bags ...

Dawn,

As another person with ReA, Sjogrens, FMS, CFS, GERD, IBS, chostochondritis,

etc., I wouldn't rule out the Sjogrens as the cause of your tongue curiosities.

I've had geographic tongue and other inflammed tongue problems in the past.

Geographic tongue looks like a map with continents, and oceans. Very strange

and curious. About all you can do is wait for it to go away. It's very

disturbing.

Hi All,

I finally got the chance to look up what I was dx'd with, with my 'burning

tongue.' It's called " Glossitis. " In the doc's (Ear, Nose & Throat

Specialist)report, he stated that he felt that the Sjogren's didn't cause

it, but it couldn't be ruled out.

I was treated with a certain type of antibiotics, which helped, but I

continue get the 'burning tongue,' so I'm wondering if the Sjogren's doesn't

have something

Hope this helps.

First things first. Go find out what it is. A visual examination might put

your mind at ease or alert you to the need for concerted effort.

There is a treatment that is anti-cancer and anti-viral and it is a

liquid that you can hold in your mouth and increase effectiveness. It

is most commonly known as Cancell, but it is sold as Cantron and

Protocel. I have maintained a web page and web site about these

treatments for nine years, but I don't sell them. I have experimented

and collected case histories (not testimonials which have little

value) regarding Cancell and produced an effectiveness study. I can

state that this is an effective cancer and viral treatment. It seems

to work on half the people that try it. However, it leaves the

bloodstream quickly, is not available in a time release pill, and a

concentration of Cancell is needed in the bloodstream at all times to

be effective against cancer or viruses.

I recommend ordering Cantron because they will refund your money even

if you open the bottle while the Protocel people will not.

To learn more about Cancell visit

http://alternativecancer.us/cancell.htm

from there you can pick Protocel or Cantron by clicking on one of the

bottles.

Hi -

My son Jake had torticollis which was resolved when he was about 6.5

months old. However, even though the tort in his neck is resolved,

I've learned that there is still low muscle town throughout the body

that can be related to it. When he first started walking (which wasn't

until 16.5 months old), he very obviously had more strength in one leg

more than the other. He would always lead with the stronger leg, and

then swing his weak one around to meet it. I took him to the ped, and

he said it was low muscle tone (though he didn't mention it related to

tort) and he would build up his strength eventually (which he did with

no problem, he was running and jumping in not time).

Jake also was late in talking, so we started speech therapy in

September. The first thing the therapist noticed was that Jake wasn't

moving his mouth very much to form the few words he could say (for

instance, he couldn't really pucker his mouth at all). So she

mentioned low muscle tone and associates it with the tort. His tongue

never hung out of his mouth, but we've noticed that one side of his

mouth/cheek looks stronger than the other, he sort of talks out of one

side of his mouth sometimes (though it's gotten better), and he was

having a hard time touching his tongue to the roof of his mouth (which

is important in making a lot of letter/word sounds). But he's recently

started doing that better now too.

So I guess my point is, yes, tort can effect the body in many ways

with low muscle tone, but it can be worked on if necessary. I'm sure

your son is too young for speech (I think they can start around

18months), but maybe some occupational therapy would help in building

up some strength in his mouth (though he might be too young for that

too, not sure). Our speech therapist has a couple of mouth massagers

that she sometimes uses on Jake, so I imagine there are some things

that can be done to help, especially if he continues to have a gag

reflex and it hinders his eating.

Hope that helps!

in his mouth which is causing him to gag when I feed him thicker foods

as well as drool a lot. He also seems to have his tongue protruding

out of his mouth all the time. She said that it could be cause by

torticollis (which I thought was resolved). Anybody out there have

Thanks for all your info! His nurse did refer him to an oral/motor person. I am wondering though why his ped hasnt even mentioned the tort in several months. Which is why I assumed it was resolved. But I guess what you are saying is the tort has lasting effects on other areas. All very interesting! Now that I am thinking about all this I have noticed that when he is trying to crawl (he is just army crawling now) it seems like his right arm gets hung up under him a lot more than the left. Hmmmm... going to need to get my ped to be more observant of him!- - Cole in DOCband since 12/1/08From: <nwilkens2275@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2009 6:34:39 PMSubject: Re: tongue

I just wanted to post a short note about how rich a broth beef tongue makes. I

have been on a tongue kick lately.

I have been putting it my crock pot for a 10 hours with a carton of chicken

broth, a 1/8c of apple cider vinegar and refill the carton again with water and

add it to the crock pot. (I have a big crockpot). I add some seasoning of

choice.

It cooks up very tender. I was surprised how fatty it was but the meat has a

very rich, no gamey taste, and the broth is richly intense. It really tastes

more beefy than steak.

It is a bit unsettling to me to see such a huge tongue. Makes me a bit squeamish

I must say. The skin on the tongue surface peels off easily after cooking for so

long. Don't try cutting it off before or you'll end up losing some meat.

Tongue is an inexpensive cut of meat so it's well worth to check it out for

those who are on a budget. I picked up a large, I mean a real big one, maybe

8-10inches long and about 2-3 inches thick, for about 6 bucks at Walmart. Can't

find something like that at Whole Foods.

Lengua (tongue) tacos are delicious.

My mom pressure-cooks beef tongue for about an hour, then runs cold water over

it. This makes the skin come off more easily. I think you might need to let it

sit in the cold water for a few minutes because I didn't have much luck when I

tried this (although I don't use a pressure cooker).

I recently ate a pork tongue without skinning it. The thick skin and large taste

buds on beef tongues, however, are a bit too much for even me to enjoy eating.

You can get grassfed beef tongue from US Wellness Meats and grassfed bison

tongue from Northstar Bison.

Hi Sharon

A swollen tongue is a sign of not enough thyroid medication for me,

so perhaps a deficiency of thyroid meds. If you have a swollen tongue may I

suggest you get your frees done to make sure.

like marks on both sides and a 'groove' or 'split' all the way down the

the time,as she looks at peoples tongues and their poo!Sha can tell what is

going on inside peoples bodies just by looking at these particular things. Her

food regimes make a lot of sense, but I find it all too exhausting to bother with

all that rigmarole!!But she does say the tongue issues are caused by

deficiencies.
