Guest guest
I sent Barry Groves the article talking about fat and carb storage and how carbs are the preffered source of anaerobic high intensity activity. The reason there is such a controversy (apart from the bad press that fats quite wrongly get) is simply that we are not designed for hard, prolonged exercise. Our energy stores are designed for long walks in search of food and for rapid movement to either kill or escape from predators. Stored body fats provide the energy source for the former (low-impact exercise); blood glucose and stored glycogen for the latter (high-impact exercise). Doing what we are not designed to -- high-impact exercise for long periods of time, and you are likely to end up, like Sir Steve Redgrave (5-times Olympic rowing gold medallist), with type-2 diabetes. This means a less healthy life, more discomfort as you get older, and a much shorter lifespan. Is all that exercise worth it? Guest guest
Hi Barry, What exactly would constitute the following? I used to do high impact aerobics for 45 minutes, 3 times a week, and felt great. " Doing what we are not designed to -- high-impact exercise for long periods of time " Thanks!
