Guest guest
Hi Ellen, With that low of income you might me able to get the ssi now. You might want to call social security and ask and go to dept of job and family services and fill out for food stamps. Call 211 for other services that might help, then there is HEAP for heat and electric and on the White House's website there is a page with help info for housing underwriting, etc. Others shared this info with me and it helped. Praying for you. Lori >Ellen wrote: >Heard from the disability attorney today. Was told by judge that it could be 4-6 weeks before I hear if I am approved. Today makes 4 weeks. I thought they were calling with news. They just wanted an address update. >The attorneys office said that, on average, it can take 3 to 5 Months! >I can live on $600/month. I can't figure how I can work without being able to use my arms much. My head always feels heavy and I get a headache on a daily basis from the burst disc in my neck. I sleep a lot. I can hardly keep up with my chores around the house. I can't visit with neighbors for more than 20 minutes and then I need go rest.

Guest guest
Ellen Please call social security. I think the ssi starts right away and then is deducted from any back award you get. The Medicare website also has information about various help available, including no payment for premium, drug coverage with payment help, etc. The affordable housing programs on whitehouse.gov is for people who rent, own, lease, etc. Plus there are other programs listed. Job and family services have programs, too. Apply for everything and be persistent. God bless! My disability took nearly three years to go through! Since hubby was working, I didn't qualify for the ssi. God bless! Lori >Ellen wrote: Hmmm. Can I get SSI until I get SSDI? Am in liheap and have gotten food stamps. Also been in touch with 211.
