Guest guest
-, this is excellent info, thank you so much for posting this link. I'm a barefoot gal at heart and have been wearing birkenstocks for approx 20 years, the only other type of shoe I can wear without pain are " croc's " . I am very interested in checking out the footwear in this article. Guest guest
Interesting. The only shoes I can wear are Earth Shoes. They kind of let you walk like barefoot, but they are indeed padded. I'd love to find something else I could wear that would be more like barefoot, as even these do hurt my feet after a while (although, they are almost 4 years old and in dire need of replacement). A friend was telling me they have a new lite line that I might check out. -Lana

Guest guest
I've not been able to walk very well since a stroke five years ago. I often wondered why I could walk so much more easily before going to bed ! I've just taken off my 615th pair of shoes and walked around the house in loose socks. BLISS. Thanks Jane Re: if you are interested in health, you may find this of interest > > Great article about how shoes and heels mess up our natural walk and thus cause health issues: > > http://nymag.com/health/features/46213/ > >
Guest guest
Walking barefoot is the way to go. I do it whenever possible when the weather is warm enough. I do get some strange looks when I am on a trail and my feet are bare, sandals hanging from my backpack, but little kids always love to come and ask me where my shoes are, and its interesting to see them thinking about the fact that you don't have to wear shoes. I can step on glass and pieces of metal on accident without getting hurt now. My feet don't feel any tougher, like they haven't calloused, but the skin is much more elastic and resilient. Everybody should try it sometime. It takes a little bit to get conditioned but after that its really enjoyable and feels totally natural. - > Just as we have completely gone awry with modern diet, the same is >the case with shoes. It is not a good idea to wear casts around your feet all day long. In native cultures (that don't wear shoes), foot problems are rare. In modern cultures that do, foot problems are commonplace. When we allow ourselves to actually use our feet, the feet can develop their muscles and tendons to their full ability. We allow the feet to cushion the body and reduce stress on the > knees and elsewhere. There are actually no studies showing that running shoes help reduce injury! The naked foot actually has more cushioning ability than any shoe! Fortunately, the solution is not terribly difficult- go barefoot whenever possible (normally this means at home) and wear shoes that are as minimal as possible otherwise. Minimal meaning the least amount of " support " possible. A flip-flop without any " arch support " is the most common example. >

Guest guest
I read a similar article saying wearing bras contributes to breast cancer by decreasing lymphatic flow and blood flow from the constriction of the elastic and from keeping them from moving naturally. > > > > Great article about how shoes and heels mess up our natural walk and thus cause health issues: > > > > http://nymag.com/health/features/46213/ > > > >
