Sugarcane is the plant, which is like bamboo in shape and size. Cane juice (the sweet stuff) is the liquid in the sugarcane plant. To get sugar, sugar cane is mechanically processed to extract the liquid, then the liquid is evaporated. Additional processing and milling are needed to create refined white sugar from the raw sugar that results from the first stage of processing. (Wiki it!) Chewing a sugarcane stick could accomplish the mechanical processing stage of sugar extraction mentioned above. Chew and suck the liquid out. Your jaw may suffer, however!
