Guest guest
Anybody out there born in 1944 or earlier during WWII? I've long wondered why I'm so mentally deficient in certain ways, specifically memory. Some is no doubt genetic but I also think my brother and I were " done to " . Not only did my mother not have the nutrition she needed, even tho raised on a farm. (picky eater weight in at 85 lb when married) but she was raised during the depression. So we were fetuses in a sparsely fed mother, depressed because her husband was overseas. Add to that, I remember kneading some sort of squishy stuff in a bag that had a red dot in it to spread that red dot around to color the squishy stuff to simulate butter. Does anyone know what the squishy stuff was or the red dye was? Then the war ended and my mother skipped with glee to Germany to join my father and ate all the good food the German's were deprived of. So grass fed everything. There she conceived of my PhD sister (taken care of by a German girl who knew about food preparation no doubt) and 1 1/2 years later my genius brother. Now that I'm 64 I am desperately trying to figure out how to earn a living when I can no longer work this physically difficult job in a company that will close it's doors anyway in a few years if it lasts that long (indoor plant care). My social security will be something like $600 mth before Medicare and taxes. I've always had it in my mind to support myself with my art but raised a family instead then worked too many hours and told myself each year that " something would happen " . Time has run out and I dare not say that anymore, instead I say " something will happen this year " . I've lost so many accounts that time and energy have been freed up to let me make a little headway with my art : ) but the race is on. Mainly I want to hear from scientists out there who know what was in that " butter " . Also, I want to see who's out there in the California Bay Area so that we can form a possible group to meet occasionally to share a WAP potluck meal. Anyone out there? ------------------------------------
