Milinda,

I wish I knew the answer to your question but unfortunately none of us do. Cheryl is right about your lining maybe increasing after the IVF shots. You will see that once you start anyhow.

I also think it is a good idea that you will keep this to yourself and share with this group only for the time being. I have been through IVF and I know the strains involved.

Now lets see if we can get some answers from you regarding your situation and see if we can understand your situation better.

Before you had your operative hysteroscopy to treat ashermans, you said that you did have periods. What were these like? Were they any different to the periods you are having now?

I believe the doctors can see via ultrasound if there is any cavity in your uterus where the baby can grow. Can you ask your doctor if yours is open and if there is room in there because you said that you still have adhesions left in your uterus. The concern for adhesions remaining in the uterus is that if you did get pregnant, they could get in the way of the baby when it is growing.

Also, you may have a lining of 4mm but do you know if it is all the way round the uterus or is it missing in some places? I don't think there is a problem to get pregnant on a lining of 4mm but if you are missing endometrium in some areas, then your chances of the IVF succeeding is decreases and it would be a shame to spend all that money if you only have a few patches of endometrium here and there.

One other thing is, did your doctor tell you if you had a mild, moderate or severe case of ashermans? If mild, then I think you don't have to worry about getting pregnant, but at the same time, it does really matter what the situation within your uterus looks like as I have stated above.

I hope I haven't depressed you by asking all these questions but I want you to understand the reasons for maybe not being able to get pregnant with IVF if this should (God forbid) happen. Go prepared and you will be a happier person knowing that you knew everything there is to know.
