Guest guest Posted September 19, 2008 Report Share Posted September 19, 2008 The Imphal Free Press IMPHAL, Sep 18: Decrying the non-release of funds by the Manipur Aids Control Society for consecutive six months, a sit-in protest was staged today at the complex of the society at Lamphel by the members of the All Manipur NGO Partners Consortium on HIV/AIDS. With slogans like, Release funds immediately to MACS NGO partners the sit-in protest participated by around 100 members representing 65 NGOS was carried out from around 11 am till 4 pm. Speaking to reporters at the protest site, president of the All Manipur NGO Parnters Consortium on HIV/AIDS, Y Surchandra said that owing to the non-release of funds by the MACS for the last six months, the NGOs were facing problems in performing their normal services for the HIV/AIDS infected persons. He said these NGOs working in the fields of HIV/AIDS were supplying syringes, medicines, condoms and other materials to the HIV/AIDS infected people from time to time.
