Guest guest
Steve, I deleted the other post to by mistake. Steve, Why haven't you already seen a immunologist ? I am sure your Doctors are monitoring your T=Cells and other specific tests that monitor the growth and replication of Cancer cells. C125 testing, I had to see if I had pre disposal to cancer which made me feel better. But an immunologist would be a good person to have on your team. If you have an abnormal immune system, which all opoids do decrease and effect the immune system and probably cause altered tests but I don't know why immune support to enhance your immune system would be a problem. If it were me, I would and am going to have an appointment with an immunologist to build up my immune system before I have surgery to get my hardware out. Both therapeutic and chronic use of opioids can compromise the function of the immune system. Opioids decrease the proliferation of macrophage progenitor cells and lymphocytes, and affect cell differentiation (Roy & Loh, 1996). Opioids may also inhibit leukocyte migration. However the relevance of this in the context of pain relief is not known. There are no studies of immune function in patients receiving long-term opioid therapy for chronic pain, but the direct evidence that opioids impair immune function in susceptible individuals is concerning. Pain itself can suppress immune function, so patients receiving prolonged opioid therapy without good pain relief are probably the most vulnerable. http://immunemedicine.com/ http://www.immunerecovery.net/ http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Therapy/biological These are great websites discusses immunotherapy. I am sure you already have researched this information. With pain, medication for pain, and cancer suppresses you immune system, surely this is part of your treatment program that needs to be incorporated. I wish you for all the support you can get. I cannot process the statement you already have a abnormal immune system. Well, of course you do, that is what all patients who need immune system have an abnormal one, if they had an normal one they would not need immune support program. DUH! Many of the programs listed on these websites evaluate you particular immune program which doesn't cause you to have you symptoms made worse but gives you a treatment plan you can address and needs identified. Doing nothing equals getting nothing. This is just my opinion Steve, and you and your Doctors know much more than me but I would like to at least, see you evaluated by a immunologist and a treatment plan developed. Good Luck Steve as you deserve all the care you can get . Thinking of you, Bennie
