Guest guest
I just found out about CSAs or community supported agriculture from videos on Youtube. You pay weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or several months in advance depending on the seller, and the fruits and vegetables are shipped directly to your door or a close drop off location. This is an excellent way to support local organic agriculture and reduce the distances that food is shipped. The prices seem reasonable. The website “localharvest.org†is a listing of many farms and shops selling fruits, vegetables, honey, and environmentally safe clothing, bodycare products, etc. You can type in your zip code and get a list of the farms and sellers within whatever distance you plug in. The farm that I decided on is “farmfreshtoyou.comâ€. I live in the SF Bay Area. The farm is about 100 miles from my residence, and they deliver directly to the customer’s door. Gardening, local farming, foraging, fishing, hunting are the answers to the gigantic agricultural problem this country has always had. The agricultural system is possibly a bigger threat to the environment than global warming because of soil depletion, pesticide use, fertilizers, water depletion, etc. The workers are some of the most exploited in any industry, the animals are raised in tortuous conditions, and the food produced is not healthy. But everybody thinks our agricultural system is the breadbasket to the world because that’s all we’re ever told from the mainstream, business propaganda media. The media is owned and controlled by the private industries causing the problems, so why would they advertise their crimes? Wouldn’t make business sense. The business co-opted government isn’t going to do anything about the problems, so we need to seek alternatives.
