Guest guest
We have a couple of Meet Up groups. - They are hard to attend because of the travel - Can be expensive - I've only gone to 2-3 in three years. One of the meetings had only three people including the leader + Nice to talk to others who have chronic pain You get to see what you look like to someone without c_p. Helps me to understand reactions of friends and family. + An event to look forward to attending. Gets me out. + A chance to laugh at myself Overall, I encourage people to go so more opportunities the better. Cheers, > Ellen wrote: > Does anybody do meetup groups from meetup.com? Guest guest
I have attended some meetup groups. I'm a country dweller and they have all been within 30-60 minutes from home. I haven't attended anything that cost me money to attend per se. Most were at homes or public locations but some met at restaurants. I always feel obligated to order at least a tea or a soft drink. None of the ones I have attended were on chronic pain. I picked topics that I thought it would be interesting to learn more about or those I was interested in before. Being the geek I am, I have gotten back into playing Dungeons and Dragons after a gap of 20+ years. It is nice to be around people period. They have all been extremely understanding about my limitations. Sometimes I can participate, sometimes I just zone out, sometimes I don't make it at all. But I know that every Wednesday there is something I can look forward to attending. If I miss it, it goes on without me. They catch me up when I return. And I do so hate missing it. I would encourage you to pick two topics: chronic pain and one that is unrelated to chronic pain. Something you enjoyed before chronic pain or something you think you would enjoy talking to other people about. Watching birds at the feeder, cooking, NASCAR, sports, movies, books, whatever. > > Ellen wrote: > > Does anybody do meetup groups from meetup.com?
