Guest guest
Dear FORUM, If Dr. Rajesh is so proud of the work of commercial sex worker then you would change your profession and become one. Stigma is because people like us who think about stigma and not act upon it. The day any obstetrician changes profession the stigma will be gone. How many activist in this country and in this world who think that sex work is as normal as any other profession and encourages their children to become sex worker.? First practice sex work, experience the stigma and then advocate. Regards Meenal Mehta e-mail: <meenalmehta@...>
Guest guest
Dear FORUM, /message/9386 This is message is not advocacy or promotion of sex worker but it is try to sensitise us for them. As a doctor we do not have a judgemental approach or attitude to any kind of patient. We have to concentrate only on patient's disease or problem with which he/she come to us with the faith. If we are treating patients with any judgemental approach/ attitude how can we get the faith from patients and patient may not come to us second time and from where he/she can get treatment. so they remains untreated and spreading infection. And there is a chance of developing feeling of revenge in them if they are stigmated from all side. As a doctor, we have to dicriminate stigma, if we keeping such stigma in our mind how can we tell people discrimination of stigma as a health care providors. Dr. Anup Amin E-mail: dranupamin@... Guest guest
Dear FORUM I am expressing my views in support of Meenal's statement. In our society majority of the jobs are not choose by ourown wishes; even in the case of Doctors and Engineers and every body is following some role models. My question is where we find a role model for sex workers?. I think it is a dangerous profession which increase the deviant behaviour. According to my experience majority of the female sex workers stated drugs, alcohol and using bad language only after entering sex work. In the society which highlights chastity and virginity and teaches the stories of seelavati and Seetha sex work is only the means for protecting male dominance.. So iam strongly supports with Meenal.. sreela sreedhar e-mail: <sreelasreedhar@...>

When India was rich, only prostitutes (nartakis) could have property, and were well read. Read history or visit Khajuraho. Or read Mrichhakaatik (The Clay Cart). Maybe with China and India regaining wealth, maybe such times will reappear. Thanks, Priyadarshi Datta e-mail: <pdatta@...>
