Guest guest
, FIVE MONTHS!!???!!!?? WOW! My husband is going in on Friday to have bone spurts removed. The Drs aren't sure wether or not his rotator cuff is torn. :-( They say they won't know until they get in there. I hope all goes well with your dad. I can't wait to read the answers here. Guest guest
> If you could email me privately that would be great because I don't get on here much > blessedby6children@... > From Vicki at the Radiant Recovery forum. She is talking about the whole foods program at RR by the way. -------------- I have had 3 major surgeries in the past 3 years - a hip replacement in 2006, I had my gall bladder removed in 2007 and both my knees were replaced last August. Let me share some of the things that worked for me. First of all, Kathleen suggested that I get a book called " Prepare for Surgery and Heal Faster " by Peggy Huddleston. It allowed me to go into surgery totally relaxed and to wake and recover from anesthesia more easily. I only had general anesthesia for the gall bladder surgery, and that definitely took me longer to get over. I worked out with a very good personal trainer prior to surgery to get the muscles that would be needing work to rehab after surgery as strong as possible ahead of time. That worked amazingly well. I recovered from my joint replacements much faster that the doctors expected. I do not know what step you are on, but, I took shake ingrediants to the hospital with me. And, I spoke to the nurses ahead of time and let them know that it was very important to give me only IVs without added sugar or dextrose in it. My family was great about bringing food to me if I was not able to get program friendly food in the hospital. I didn't have much of an appetite, but small shakes helped a lot. I had help at home for the first week or so after I was released from the hospital. That was really important as I was not up to shopping or cooking. I also had meals in the freezer for when I didn't have someone to help. Give yourself at least 6 weeks for healing, during which time you will need naps at least once a day. Good luck, Roseanne. I hope some of this helps. I think preparation is huge.
