Guest guest Posted September 16, 2008 Report Share Posted September 16, 2008 HIV testing centre in prison opened Tiruchirapalli, Sep 13: The Tamil Nadu AIDS Control Society has opened an Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre at the Central Prison here for HIV-affected prisoners and to detect fresh cases. According to prison sources, there were about 2,000 inmates here and the society provided an initial amount of Rs 66,000. Equipment for the laboratory was purchased. The Centre, opened yesterday, would be manned by a counsellor and a lab technician. There were 14 HIV-affected prisoners. It would monitor the health condition regularly and create awareness on HIV and AIDS among the inmates.
