Homemade coconut milk recipe

I found a recipe for coconut milk in one of those really old natural healing

books.

Canned coconut milk is expensive!

Here is the recipe:

Start w/a blender half full of warm water. Add 2 Tbsp maple syrup (if desired)

and a dash of salt. As blender is running (medium to high speed) add chunks of

coconut until container is nearly full (dried coconut may be used). Strain the

pulp from the liquid. Use the pulp again once more in the same fashion, to get

another batch of milk. Then throw the pulp away.

is that pulp from a fresh coconut? or dried coconut pulp?

You can use either. I used dried shredded coconut. I just bought a bunch of

coconut flakes from Tropical Traditions so I can make more...
