Guest guest
I'm still scraping my jaw off the floor. Alternet has an article, " Eating Meat is Not Natural " (http://www.alternet.org/story/140643/eating_meat_is_not_natural/ ), that I think deserves a much more eloquent rebuttal than I can muster (what with multiple grant and report deadlines in the next few weeks). Any takers? -jennifer
Guest guest
Hmmm, the article mentions how perfectly our hands are designed to pick fruit and vegetables as opposed to catching and shredding and eating prey. But she doesn't mention how relatively easy it is for those same fingers to catch a chicken (or some other fowl), wring its neck, pluck its feathers and hold it over a fire. Same with a fish (which a human can even eat raw easily). She certainly can't use her arguments to apply to all meat. This is my favorite ridiculous statement. " Says Dr. C. , editor of the American Journal of Cardiology, “Although we think we are, and we act as if we are, human beings are not natural carnivores. When we kill animals to eat them, they end up killing us, because their flesh, which contains cholesterol and saturated fat, was never intended for human beings, who are natural herbivores.” B.
