Subject: FW: FitNet Movie Review - Food Inc.

Hello,

If you eat convenience foods or CAFO meats you need to see the recently

released documentary " Food Inc. "

<http://www.youtube. com/watch? v=QqQVll- MP3I> If you aren't sure what I am

talking about, you really do need to see the documentary!

There are many hidden costs to our convenient and cheap foods. Awareness

gives us the opportunity to make choices. As Tiger Woods said, " We all make

our decisions <http://www.foodincm ovie.com/ get-involved. php> and in the

end, our decisions make us. " This could not be more true of our current food

dilemma. This film highlights those choices.

CAFO stands for Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation; as opposed to animals

that feed off of natural pastures. Our animals were raised on pastures for

over ten thousand years. The amount of time CAFO production has been on the

planet, barely 60 years, compared to its profound impact on our quality of

life is startling. Each time we eat we make a choice about which direction

our nation's food production goes.

I am pretty sure that a majority of my readers have farmers or ranchers

somewhere in their family history as I do. I am just a sure that a majority

of my readers do not personally know one farmer or rancher who produces the

food they eat today. If the significance of this fact eludes you, you must

see the film!

Here are a few of the hidden costs reviewed in the film

<http://www.foodincmovie.com/about-the-issues.php> :

1) Increased obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer and autoimmune

diseases - The long term cost of health care for people impacted by a

refined diet of cheap manufactured foods must be weighed against the cost of

local sustainable organic foods.

2) Loss of control over what we eat - Government policy being set by food

corporations and chemical companies and corporate monopolies squeezing out

the small farmer.

3) Inhumane treatment of animals and employees - The Jungle

02> is alive and well still today.

4) The loss of variety necessary to thrive - Industrialized food production

is primarily a concentration of highly refined corn, soy and wheat;

essentially a mono-diet.

5) Large scale food born illness (ground beef, apple juice, spinach, peanut

butter and now raw cookie dough).

6) The economic ramifications of food production and distribution if the

price of oil skyrockets upward.
