Guest guest
I am wondering how many people in here either know their vitamin d blood levels or not ? when I first got mine checked 6 years ago, I was at 14, now my last test was
Guest guest
I started taking 3000IU after MS diagnosis because of things I read. A year later, blood tests determined I was still low in D. I went to 6000IU per day (3k in am, 3k in pm) and tested with normal D levels. All this was done with my GPs supervision. Unfortunately, no MS changes came after fixing that. > > I am wondering how many people in here either know their vitamin d blood > levels or not ? > > when I first got mine checked 6 years ago, I was at 14, now my last test was > 62 > > >
Guest guest
I have had my levels tested but I cannot remember the exact figure - it was recommended that I lessen the amount I was taking as I was a bit high. I have always believed that as my blood was tested in the UK Summer after I had been sitting outside in the sun each day, that my high numbers were my supplementation AND my having been out in the sun. I now balance what I'm doing in regards to sun and supplementation. 'What we do in life, echoes through eternity.' Guest guest
45 when first tested in 2008. Gone up gradually (47, 50, 51, 54) now 63 upon which the GP told me to stop supplementation. (I haven't.) The reference levels here in Spain are 12 -54 (i.e. anywhere in that range is deemed fine by the medics). Do you have the same range in the States? Janet To: mscured From: ortcloud@... Guest guest
32 or below is considered deficient on my test range. Which is why you cant rely on doctors to tell you whether your levels are ok or not. But optimal for most people based on Dr. Cannell from is 50-70 http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/ but as Zoe mentioned for people with MS, it should be at least this or higher. Guest guest
The range in the U.S. with Quest Diagnostics is 30-100 for the total Vitamin D (D2+D3), at least in the state that I live in, but they may be using a different test or measurement scale than in Spain. ________________________________ To: MS-Cured <mscured > Sent: Wed, May 4, 2011 1:29:06 PM Subject: RE: Vitamin D level survey 45 when first tested in 2008. Guest guest
Here in Czceh Republic, Europe, is the acceptable range 11-50 of which I had only 14!!! So I am trying to enhance my dose and will get tested again at the end of the summer. I am going to be out in the sun more than I used to. And I havent really had enough sunlisht in my childhood, nor did I eat fish, for I am severely allergic to it. So I suppose I have been hugely deficient on vit D. I fit into so many theories of the origin of ms that it would be a miracle if i didnt have it..lol yet I might have lyme after all... weird. time to try LDN I guess. > > > > The supposed acceptable range according to my Vitamin D labs is 30-100. But my doc told me we were shooting for 60-70. (I am in the US) > > I tried for 2 years taking 5,000 mg per day and only got it up to 42. I have been taking 10,000 mg per day for over a year now, and finally my > D3 score is 62. I'm still taking 10,000 as he'd like to see the count go to 70. I didn't have any improvements in my MS symptoms from this, however, but I still think it's worth doing--for general health if nothing else. >
