Guest guest
Jen, Actually, I do find it hard to believe that only two of your kids have had stitches! Of course, they are young yet. ;\ I'm pretty sure the dr. is going to think I'm crazy if I ask for the " cocaine jelly, " she thought it odd that I asked for the antibiotic by brand name (Zithro, Levi isn't culturing anything right now that we know of, so I don't have to worry about pseudo, at least, although as he was drooling off his " bulldog lip " I wondered about the traveling germs). Obviously, this is a new family dr. for us. Our former ped. (who specialized in pediatrics and neurology) switched to just neurology and referred all his patients out. It's just as well, when I had told him that Levi has been dxed with cf, he put his hand on my shoulder and said, " Well, you realize that he will require more care than your other children, but I think that with his specialists we will be able to manage his care. " Not very optimistic. Drat! I got sidetracked there didn't I? We are having trouble keeping the site clean. The fact that he is 2.5 and not very concerned with table ettequitte (sp?) plus the difficulty of keeping his fingers OFF the wires sticking out of his face (!) has made me thing that there is no way this is going to heal quickly. We don't have to worry about food getting under a bandage, though, because he picks the bandages off as soon as I put them on. The instructions from the e.r. say to keep them " dry. " Yeah, right! Before or after the mashed potatoes get smeared into them??? I did take the other two kids, plus husband to the emergency room for our Friday Night Out. (haha!) The older two immediately sat in the corner of the room and put their hands over their ears. (Guess they had the situation figured out!) So I sent them out with Daddy to wait in the jeep until Levi was finished. I wonder if the slower healing is a result of the salty skin? Did I mention that he snagged his stitches on Chey's sleeping bag when we got home from the e.r.??? I cannot envision taking stitches out of a sleeping child. Of course, you probably couldn't have, either, a month before you did it. How is Mallory doing?? -------- Someone mentioned yogurt made with whole milk. Did you know you could make your own yogurt? I have a recipe somewhere if anyone's interested. ***note: it is not a " quick fix " kind of recipe, it involves keeping the yogurt mixture in a warm place several hours to incubate. If you've made bread from scratch before, the yogurt would be a snap. -------- I need to hit the sack! ~ ===== ********************************************** Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead.
