Guest guest
Hi Amy. takes augmentin when he has the actual infection. He's only on the cephlexin (keflex in simple laguage) to help prevent them. This doesn't mean he won't get one, but he was getting them almost every month or so. He's also on flonase. It helps to keep him breathing easier and it smells like flowers./ He smells so pretty when we give it to him lol. His antibiotics are given in the liquid form right now. The flonase is gievn once a day. Just in case your cf doctor doesn't tell you, if they happen to give antibiotics, you may want to feed her yoghurt. Something in the yoghurt helps prevent diarhea usually associated with the meds. Let me know how it goes, you can e-mail me personally if you like. > >Reply-To: cfparentsegroups >To: <cfparentsegroups> >Subject: Sinus Question >Date: Fri, 10 Nov 2000 17:49:47 -0800 > > , (Or anybody else help) > >I have a 3 and a half year old with CF who seems to be getting allot of >sinus infections lately. Every time I give antibiotics to Leo I also give him capsules of Lactoserum, which you can of course find in yoghourt, but in much smaller quantities... , Mom to Leo, 2 wcf
Guest guest
Hi, there, noticed your posts on sinuses. I think, personally, just as a patient, that yogurt is very helpful; however, so many cf patients, even babies as well as kids, young adults and us geriatric types, have gastroesophogeal reflux disease (or worse!) that yogurt, which is extremely acidid, which is why it works, nonetheless kicks off the reflux problem; most cf doctors known of medications to prevent bowel bacterial overgrowth and/or candida albicans. And I love flonase, though my signifi- cant other (I am a widow with grown kids) has never commented on the scent at all. Maybe HIS sinuses need a bit of attention; he seems to have almost no sense of smell and something that appears to be nasal allergy, though he is otherwise apal- lingly healthy! Good luck with the yogurt! n Rojas who hopes, as we are a group, that you won't mind my commen ting. My CF adult daughter also takes Flonase; I think it smells pretty, too! Guest guest
it isn't a germ that causes the diarhea. Some chemical reaction happens in the stomach and, it's hard to explain, the yoghurt suppresses that. I don't remember exactly what's in it that does it. > >Reply-To: cfparentsegroups >To: <cfparentsegroups> >Subject: RE: Sinus Question >Date: Sat, 11 Nov 2000 03:48:21 +0100 > > > " Just in case your cf doctor doesn't tell you, if they happen to > give antibiotics, you may want to feed her yoghurt.
