Guest guest
Has anyone else experienced their child going from having very good, clear speech to very slurred, impossible to understand speech? Since July (when we suspect some hearing loss may have occurred), has gone from speaking in sentences to practically not talking at all. Now, when he does talk, his speech is extremely garbled and slurred. He barely ever understands what I say. For instance, when he was a baby I could say things like, " Where's your nose, " and he'd point immediately to his nose. Now I ask him the same question and he points to the window or his ear. Could a hearing problem cause a sudden change in speech and understanding like this, or could this be something else like autism? We are trying to schedule a BAER test for his hearing, but he continually has fluid in his ears and we keep having to put this off. It's extremely frustrating! Cheers!
