Lyme Disease

Seven weeks ago, my four year old daughter and I went on a hike in the

woods. While on the hike, we realized the trail was tick infested and they

were really small deer ticks. We were not prepared nor dressed

appropriately. A few weeks later, when I went in for a routine doctor¹s

appointment, I asked them to add a test for Lyme disease to my blood test. I

never found a tick on either of us and neither of us had a rash so I didn¹t

expect the test to come back positive. But it did. Having just got over the

flu I checked the list of symptoms for Lyme disease and our flu like

symptoms were bell ringers for Lyme disease.

I was put on antibiotics six weeks after our hike and my daughter just

started her antibiotics today, (seven weeks later we had to wait for her

test results). My doc said that my antibodies are Œnew¹ antibodies and

suggest that I was infected 4 to 6 weeks ago which coincides with our hike.

I¹m learning more than I ever wanted to know about the disease. I have to

admit that I¹m really ignorant about ticks and I¹m getting some conflicting

information in my research. I was hoping that someone here could guide me in

the right direction.

Since we never found the ticks I¹m worried that it is still attached,

possibly having babies, or maybe it will detach itself and is living in my

bed. Do I need to find the tick and/or the location that it bit.

Additionally, It seems that I should be doing more than simply taking

antibiotics but I don¹t know Œwhat¹ I should be doing.

Any pointers would be appreciated.
