Dear Forum

Greeting from ITPC-India!

The International Treatment Preparedness Coalition is the primary

international coalition of people living with HIV/AIDS and their

supporters dedicated to advocacy on HIV/AIDS treatment access.

The coalition is led by those who have strong expertise in HIV/AIDS

treatment and related issues who work in, and for, the affected

communities in their own countries. Combining this knowledge of

grassroots community with technical expertise, ITPC is structured as

an international network designed to support community mobilization

at local, regional, and global levels with the goal of universal

access to HIV-relatedtreatment, care and support for all people

living with HIV (PLWHA) people and meaningful involvement of PLWHA

people in decisions that affect their lives.

ITPC-India chapter was established on the 24th September 2008 in New

Delhi by PLHIV leaders, treatment activists, doctors, lawyers,

academicians etc. The goal of ITPC-India is to Accelerate Treatment

Access in india through Advocacy and Treatment Literacy.

ITPC-India plans to advocate and give their inputs on the National

ARV Programme by active involvement and provision of scientific

information and strategic direction.

There are 2.5 million people living with HIV in India, yet today,

PLHAs are not assured to essential drugs for treatment of

opportunistic infections (OI) and 2nd line ART, despite India being

the major supplier and exporter of cheap and effective generic ARVs

and OI drugs.

ITPC-INDIA comprises of a group of activists who are contributing

their services to the nation for addressing treatment issues for

PLHIV. The membership of ITPC-India is open to all who are interested

and passionate about the status of HIV treatment in India.
