The speakers on the amalgam safety issue included The president of Dams as lead

off speaker, 4 mercury free dentists, one MD who works with mercury poisoned

patients, one nurse, one dental hygienist, another mercury scientist Sam Queen,

2 from the IAOMT staff office, 2 Sierra Club activists including the Orlando

Chapter Chair speaking on environmental harm from dental amalgam, and mercury

poisoned patients with MS, Parkinson's, Schizophrenia, Chronic Fatigue, Acute

mercury poisoning due to diathermy use in oral area, etc.

Bernie Windham spoke primarily on the history of amalgam use in the U.S. and

disinformation campaigns to justify its use, along with major environmental

dentists gave impressive talks covering the reasons they are mercury free and

why it is unreasonable to continue use of a highly toxic obsolete dental option.

An MD who treats people with mercury toxicity from amalgam gave some of her

experiences of common harm from dental amalgam and vaccinations.

Sam Queen talked about the significant worldwide problem of mercury

proliferation in the environment, as seen through annual increases of mercury

seen in indicator species such as amphibians, polar bears, some types of whales,

etc. - with human contribution from uses such as dental amalgam being primarily

responsible for the proliferation of mercury in the environment. Two

representatives of the Orlando Sierra Club Chapter were there, with the chapter

chair giving a good talk on the major environmental effects of mercury on the

A mercury poisoned dentist, Dr. Stuart Scheckner, gave the story of his well

documented case of mercury poisoning related to amalgam use in his office. A

nurse who became mercury poisoned gave her story, and a dental hygienist gave

her story of having continuing health problems while working in an office with

poor amalgam etiquette and being much more healthy after moving to a mercury

Funk gave a good talk dealing with the scientific reasons that people with

amalgam get high levels of mercury exposure ( www.flcv.com/AmalgamP.html ) and a

case of acute mercury toxicity from diathermy use in the oral area of a lady

with 4 amalgam fillings. He pointed out that amalgam use should be

contraindicated or vice versa for diathermy, dental cleaning equipment, electric

tooth brushes, hair dryers, lasers, other EMF emitter equipment, drinking hot

liquids, etc. since all such are documented to cause significant increases in

mercury vapor emissions from amalgam.

Darlene D'angelo's story of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia due to improper

technique in drilling out amalgam fillings that resulted in acute mercury

toxicity. One of Dr. Hardy's patients with Parkinson's gave the history of her

Parkinson's following amalgam fillings and improper amalgam work techniques.

Kathleen Harner's daughter gave the case of her mom's MS related to mercury

toxicity from amalgam and other sources. Sacarno gave his story of amalgam

poisoning and information on AMA and FDA allowing influence by special interests

to control their actions rather than protecting the public as should be their

purpose. Mike gave the history of his long bout with mental illness/

schizophrenia/disability after placement of amalgam fillings and his recovery

after amalgam replacement. He noted that based on his experience, its likely

that 50% of criminality and mental illness is due to mercury poisoning. I

pointed out that it is documented in the medical literature that much of

criminality, juvenile delinquency, schizophrenia, and mental illness has been

documented in the medical literature to be due to toxic metal poisoning –

including mercury and other toxic metals such as lead and manganese, etc.

An important aspect of this forum is 4 new major problem areas related to

amalgam use that appear to not have gotten much attention prior to this forum.

These are: the major effects of dental amalgam on the environment and water

bodies/fish and thus on humans as well; mercury's well documented causality of

schizophrenia and other disabling mental conditions; mercury/amalgam effects on

health and behavior resulting in a large portion of criminality, juvenile

delinquency, violent behaviors, serial killing, etc. ; and the incompatibility

of amalgam with diathermy or dental polishing equipment or electric tooth

brushes, other EMF emitting equipment, or drinking hot liquids.
