Guest guest
You can paint it on your skin and it will be absorbed through the skin. Some people say that the quicker it disappears the more deficient you are. Some places that people paint it are on their nails to make them stronger, on moles and skin tags these people report that if it is applied frequently enough they will scab over and fall off, on their breasts to help reduce cystic breasts, and any other place with cysts, or you can paint it anyplace like your arm or thigh. I take Iodoral so I don¹t take the liquid form of iodine but I have heard that you can put the drops in water and drink it. I would start slow and watch for detox side effects. Go to www.breastcancerchoices.org for more info on how to administer it and the list of detox side effects. And take the salt water if you do feel some detox effects. It will help your body move out the toxins. Guest guest
I think the skin painting idea is silly because not as much will be absorbed through the skin as through the gut. Furthermore, the amount that remains on the skin after a night or a day is not necessarily a good indicator of how much was absorbed. If your skin rubs anything it could conceivably come off with dead skin and make it appear as though it were absorbed. If you really want to know how deficient you were, you should do the urine test. I just put the drops in a small amount of water and drink it. Tom
Guest guest
Ah, you've been trusting what you read on the internet! It DOES depend somewhat on how much you put on, but still it should leave a visible stain for about a day (provided you don't wash the area). So if it disappears in an hour, something else is going on. > > I think the skin painting idea is silly because not as much will be absorbed through the skin as through the gut. Guest guest
Based on other responses, I assume that you want to use it to determine if you are hypothyroid. If so, this is what I do. Paint a 1 inch square on your lower abdomen, upper thigh, or the inside of your arm just below your elbow. The stain should stay present for at least 24 hours, if it disappears in less than 24 hours, this means your body is trying to get iodine wherever it can. Even though this iodine is inorganic, your body will try to use it. I suggest painting the patch before bed, so that if starts to disappear, you will be able to see when it disappears. One friend did this and it was gone by morning. She supplemented with kelp for 2 months and it lasted longer the next time, disappearing sometime after dinner. Personally, I've seen this work WAY too many times, including on a horse, to discount it. Guest guest
I am skeptical of the whole skin painting thing as an indicator but despite that skepticism, I know as I took more iodine, it stayed on longer. I also have read many posts of people having their fibrocystic breasts improve from painting it on but usually people make more than one change so who's to say it was from the painting vs. taking it internally. I paint mine just in case b/c they need all the help they can get. --- In , " Kathy Dickson " <kathy.dickson@...> wrote: > > Based on other responses, I assume that you want to use it to determine if > you are hypothyroid. Guest guest
I like " I'm skeptical, but I do it anyway " . :-) I did not make any other dietary changes, just started taking kelp on a somewhat regular basis. However, the most interesting story I have about this iodine and thyroid is my horse: My horse is insulin-resistant and hypothyroid. A friend and I were evaluating her one day, and the friend made the comment " Wouldn't you love to be able to do an iodine test on her and see how long it lasts? " . The vet said " we tested her thyroid, your horse is not hypothyroid " . And why does she haves all these inappropriate fat deposits all over her body? Before I got around to starting her on kelp, she developed a fungus in her feet that caused her to lose the laminae that connects the inside of the hoof to the outside that you see. The vet had me apply a strong iodine solution that I had to get down in that cavity to make sure she didn't lose any more laminae. I kept hoof boots on her to keep it dry, and every night I took the boot off and let her walk around for a while to get some air to it, then drenched it with the strong iodine solution and put the boot back on. At the same time, I started her on kelp because it makes hair and nails grow FAST! And we were after getting that hoof to grow out fast. I was totally trying to get that hoof to grow fast, not trying to treat her for hypothyroid. At this point it was about keeping that hoof, no hoof, no horse. At first, the iodine was gone every night when I took the boot off. There was no way this could have rubbed off because it was inside her hoof. I didn't think anything of that. But then I started noticing it was still there 24 hours later, and as time went on, it stayed darker and darker. By the time we were confident the fungus was dead, and the hoof had grown out far enough, 24 hours later, it looked like I had just put the iodine on. She also lost her inappropriate fat deposits, it was amazing! And I made no other dietary changes, she was already eating the just hay, and a minimal amount. My friend that made the iodine comment couldn't believer her eyes. After that, I started her on cinnamon and chromium GTF to get the insulin resistance under control. At 15, she's a brand new horse and has taught me a ton about nutrition! All can remain skeptical, I just know what worked for me, several friends, and my horse. :-) Maybe I need to do an iodine test on my dog, but he rolls so much, he might rub it off. Guest guest
Nowhere in my message does it say that. Too bad you were unable to appreciate the story without making something up to criticize. Others have appreciated it and have let me know. And yes, I think I do know a lot about horse nutrition. But, I'm sure you'll criticize that too! Kathy From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of crayfishfeed Sent: Friday, September 18, 2009 4:35 PM Subject: Re: Lugol's--Not What? Guest guest
Ok the horse story., very interesting!! I think painting iodine,or takeing it internally is great, either way,as long as you use it!! Never underestimate topical treatments,as things r absorbed through the skin rapidly. Look at bioidentical creams 4 example.. Haveing said that,I do my lugols iodine internally, for over 2yrs now,and it saved my life!!!!! I was thyroidtoxic,my 2nd bout with graves sent me into tachacardia on a daily basis, and thyroid storm. I have both graves/hashis,and couldn't do atds,as my liver couldn't tolerate them,so at this time it was raidoactive iodine,or surgery,I was looking at. Then I developed the teds, eye disease and that left just surgery as my option. I studyed my ass off,and came on the lugols iodine, and how it was used 4 the last 100 plus yrs.,I ordered it,5% solution, from jcrows and it put my severe case into remission! I still take it daily, and will say this.,it is one thing I would never be without!!!!!!! I also shrunk my thyroid nodules, and an ovarian cyst/fibroid,simply by increasing my lugols dosage.... I'm huge into what is available from nature,as opposed to big pharma.. Deb --aliano
Guest guest
Dude, you need to take five deep breaths and chill. I did not criticize your story in any WAY, SHAPE or FORM. Please put in quotations where I criticized your story. As a matter of fact, I told the story to my friend who is the horse trainer. I just wanted to make sure I understood you correctly. You wrote: By the time we were confident the fungus was dead, and the hoof had grown > out far enough 24 hours later, it looked like I had just put the iodine on. > She also lost her inappropriate fat deposits, it was amazing! And I made no > other dietary changes, she was already eating the just hay, and a minimal The word ALSO written in the very next sentence after 24 hours could be interpreted as the fat deposits going away especially b/c you write " it was amazing " I was ready to believe that b/c I have heard amazing stories from people in the four years I have been sick and researching. I was simply trying to clarify since I was telling my friend about your story as I am always trying to get his family to eat healthy and I think animals are the easiest place to see the effects of good nutrition. Is me needing clarification that horrifying to you? What is your problem? > > > > > > Based on other responses, I assume that you want to use it to determine > if > > > you are hypothyroid. Guest guest
Dawn,I can't even taste the lugols.,maybe my taste buds r gone!! I don't know, but u could try the jcrows brand? I would keep at it,as nodules and cancer r said to be both lack of iodine and fungas... Another thing I did,as I had these symptoms as well, was start natural antifungals, oregano oil, gse, and garlic cloves,daily... Huge difference!! All along with the lugols. Guest guest
The skin patch is a good way to test for deficiency. but to take it, I like the Dulse. Everyone is different. All the sea vegetables are good sources of iodine. I had to start slow as too much gave me a headache. Even when my ND gave me thyroid supplement I had to back off and start over slowly. Once I got it built up I can now eat like I want of the sea vegetables. I dont take the supplement any more now that I have the Dulse. If you get the Dulse flakes they are good sprinkled over salads and different things. I like the whole to eat. > > > > > > Kathy, what is gtf?? Curiose.,lol. .. I love you're horse story!!!
