Responding to how Bart did with getting chicken pox vs. the vaccine. Well,

the Dr. did not want my typical daughter nor Bart to get any live vaccines.

They were both exposed so many times. Finally his sister got it in the 6th

grade. (He is 2 years younger). Pediatrician disagreed with the specialist. I

went with the specialist advise.

Bart was pretty sick with the chicken pox. But I had just gone thru it with

and he did no worse. There was a day that she icthed so bad she

cried and I had a night that he screamed all night. Dr, wants to refuse

MMR(mandatory to enter school in the fall for him but let my daughter have

it. Bart is an obsessive compulsive mess right now. Is is because we/he fell

of the vitamin therapy/ since chicken pox

or mito related etc. I could keep guesing and do not know. I feel that he

is such a mess and there is such a controversy over the MMR as a reason for

the epidemic in autism that I and his Doctor do not want to take the chance

with the vaccine. But I do not know if he is so regressed because he got the

chicken pox. I really think that it was better to get it than the vaccine,

for both of my kids. The Aveeno bath(oatmeal bath) got both of them thru the

worst of the itching phase. He did not get hospitalized!!!! And really made

it thru fine except he gagged for a few days and had problems with his

vitamins since. But that may have to be due with I was losing my MOM also.

I am OK that I refused the vaccine (chicken pox). It is an ordeal to go thru

it but we made out fine.Lots of extra cuddles. I may have kept him home a

few days more than . And I missed the last Thankgiving of my Mom's

life because he was exposed. I am more afraid of the vaccine than the virus

at this point in his life. Especially the MMR!!! Big theory/yet unproven

that the thermerisol/(mercury content ) in the vaccines could be the cause of

autism epidemic. Wow. NOw 1 in 500. vs 5 in 10,000 5 years ago. We

definitely have a pocket here. But Bart is different. He regresses easily and

that is maybe his mito disorder. Wish I new the right answer! Wish I could

tell you what to do. Hard choices in this unknown category.
