Guest guest
After my bout with knee/achilles tendon problems I joined a group of people who reacted badly to quinolones (drugs like Cipro, Levaquin, etc.). The reactions are frightening - young healthy people's tendons just rupture during normal use; people get panic attacks that last years, other bad stuff. And it doesn't seem to go away again, at least not quickly. Some internet research just turned up an interesting link - induced magnesium deficiency in dogs caused the same problems as quinolone drugs - loss of proteins in the tendons which could lead to the ruptures people are experiencing. The study concluded that quinolones may cause problems in people with an underlying magnesium deficiency (or vitamin D deficiency since it is a magnesium carrier). Still, my mind is haunted by the Showa Denko l-tryptophan fiasco where the product permantently damaged people's tryptophan pathways causing fibromyalgia evidently for life. If you *must* take a quinolone drug, make sure you are getting enough magnesium and vitamin D. I told the pharmacist to put me down as allergic to the class so they couldn't be accidently prescribed to me.
