Guest guest
it is best to buy the non-deodorized coconut oil but the deordorized CO still has benefits too (not as many) for those who don't like the smell/taste of CO. --- In , " crayfishfeed " <crayfishfeed@...> wrote: > > I have a question, whenever you read something about health and coconut oil it says don't buy Refined, Bleached or Deoderized coconut oil but Tropical Tradiions, Omega Nutrition and Jarrow use steam to get rid of the strong coconut taste and smell, isn't this deoderizing the product? >
Guest guest
Carolyn, Do you know which benefits are lost? Does the lauric acid remain in tact with the steam deoderization? On bee's website for candida, some of the brands she recommends have undergone this process so it makes me think the steamed is still beneficial for people with candida but I am not sure. I really can't stand the taste of coconut oil. It's just over the years, it's really gotten old for me. > > > > I have a question, whenever you read something about health and coconut oil it says don't buy Refined, Bleached or Deoderized coconut oil but Tropical Tradiions, Omega Nutrition and Jarrow use steam to get rid of the strong coconut taste and smell, isn't this deoderizing the product? > > >

Guest guest
this says the free fatty acids are removed http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/expeller-pressed-coconut-oil.htm you could contact WFN about other benefits that are lost. maybe you could ask on Bee's group too. > > > > it is best to buy the non-deodorized coconut oil but the deordorized CO still has benefits too (not as many) for those who don't like the smell/taste of CO. > > > > --- In , " crayfishfeed " <crayfishfeed@> wrote: > > > > > > I have a question, whenever you read something about health and coconut oil it says don't buy Refined, Bleached or Deoderized coconut oil but Tropical Tradiions, Omega Nutrition and Jarrow use steam to get rid of the strong coconut taste and smell, isn't this deoderizing the product? > > > > > >
Guest guest
what are the brands she recommends that have been steamed? I see her recommending unrefined virgin coconut oil from Mountain Rose Herbs or from Nutiva. > > > > it is best to buy the non-deodorized coconut oil but the deordorized CO still has benefits too (not as many) for those who don't like the smell/taste of CO. > > > > > >
Guest guest
Let me try this one more time, I have tried three times to post this and it the page keeps refreshing only to erase my post. The brands she recommends that are steamed, as far as I can read are TT and WFN. I read somewhere Jarrow also uses steaming. WFN says " This yields a very pure, uncontaminated coconut oil. Though not a virgin oil, it still melts at 76 & #65533; F, is very light and creamy smooth, containing the same medium chain fatty acids as virgin coconut oil. " Key word being " same " So then what are " free " fatty acids and what does their loss mean. Also her recommendations are not based on merit exclusively b/c those brands are sponsors on her website and she even says this " Only Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is Recommended " http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/resource/nutiva.php So who knows which is the best. They mainly seem to come from the phillipines and are dried indoors under 100 degrees. I don't what temperatures the steam reaches or if hurts anything or why the recommendation is nondeoderized when being nondeoderized by steam may not alter it too much. Maybe I'll call TT tomorrow and see if they know anything about steam or free fatty acids. -- In , " carolyn_graff " <zgraff@...> wrote: > > what are the brands she recommends that have been steamed? Guest guest
www.glorybeefoods.com sells their extra virgin coconut oil for $23 a gallon. I don't know how good of quality it is though. > > what are the brands she recommends that have been steamed? Guest guest
To follow through with this, I spoke with Jarrow today and they said the profile for lauric acids is practically the same for the steamed non-virgin one vs. the extra virgin. The nonvirgin seems like it goes through a longer process of drying and the steaming is in part to make sure nothing unsavory has grown in it. When I asked her what is lost in the steaming, she said volatile oils. I also spoke with WF and they said the steaming " gets rid of the yucky stuff like enzymes " that sounded weird. They said would email with more info. > > > > > > > > it is best to buy the non-deodorized coconut oil but the deordorized CO still has benefits too (not as many) for those who don't like the smell/taste of CO. > > > > > > > > --- In , " crayfishfeed " <crayfishfeed@> wrote: > > > > > > > > > > I have a question, whenever you read something about health and coconut oil it says don't buy Refined, Bleached or Deoderized coconut oil but Tropical Tradiions, Omega Nutrition and Jarrow use steam to get rid of the strong coconut taste and smell, isn't this deoderizing the product? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
