I completely agree with you Kathy! Thank you for posting this. Now I can't visit

without getting a headache. I was shocked when I saw what they had done.

I told them how I felt a few weeks ago. They told me that some people really

like the new site while others don't, and there are problems that they are still

trying to work out - errors with the upgrade. I guess we'll see!

I offered resources that they can consider to fix the site. I'm in online

marketing/web design and there are many problems with this design, that's for

sure.

A site doesn't have to be fancy to be effective. Their old design was, to me,

quite beautiful - very distinct. Sure, a few things could have been done with

the old style to make it better for SEO, etc. and to attract more signups, but I

don't understand what the thinking is behind the current design.

Hopefully it will get sorted. I don't want to visit any more.

I hate it too and I'm in the web business too. We had a long discussion

about the new site on the chapter leaders list so Sally heard a lot of

negative feedback there although some people do seem to like it. The colors

alone give me a headache and I have a hard time finding any info.

I cannot IMAGINE how difficult it must be for professionals to tolerate the

aesthetics! My problem is that I can't find any information - and isn't that

the whole point? To educate others on the value of the diet?

The older site was a lot easier to browse. That's what I preferred about it.

have you used the Search box in the upper right hand corner? this works great

for me and I am able to easily find health info.

Maybe not. The point may be to increase the visibility and influence of WAPF and

sell WAPF products.

But it sounds like they bought the services of one of those designers who does

not test for findability. Yuk. Or, the powers that be might have directed the

designers to make it snazzy and modern and not one word about retention of

customers or finding information.

Thanks for bringing this up. I hadn't thought of the financial angle - but,

that is EXACTLY what it looks like, like WAPF is no longer

education-oriented, but financially-oriented. And that would certainly be a

reason not to listen to those of us complaining about it.

Actually, Sally designed it.

Yuk. Or, the powers that be might have directed the designers to

It's not snazzy at all though and information is harder to find. Someone

mentioned that the search function works well for them, well, about 10% of

web users prefer using search functions, but the majority tend to use the

menu structure to find information. So the new site tends to be harder to

use than the old for, probably, the majority of users.

IMHO, the worst part is that I used to be able to send people with a new

interest in or curiosity about the WAPF information and when I saw them

again they were full of " I didn't know... " and " I never thought about

it, but..... " kinds of statements that indicated they'd been poking

around the website looking at things other than what they'd asked about

in the beginning.

That's gone. Hard for beginners or other folks who are new to WAPF to

know what to put in a search box....on the old site they seemed to be

able to 'wander' around the site and be lead from one part to another by

curiosity, now they are just getting their original question answered.

Personally, I just gave up using the site or linking to it from my blog. I

will check in on occasion to see if things change.

I do appreciate all of the articles they added. It's refreshing. The site is so

rich with information. One of my top sites to visit. Probably my favorite.

The search box may work but the list that was along the left side was so helpful

to even know what to look for.

The much too long list of links that come up with the search box is confusing

and I just give up.

I'm glad that others agree that this 'upgrade' is horrid. It's bad in so many

ways, visually and structurally and it's poor for attracting more signups too.

Suze, they should have consulted with you at the very least!

You can access old copies of the whole site here:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.westonaprice.org

The copies are missing graphics and don't go past August 28, 2008, but it's

something at least!

This is the last copy dated August 28 2008:

I thought it was just me. I find it unattractive in a way that makes me want to

leave the site rather than spend time there browsing - and I've given up trying

to find anything.
