Guest guest
What is your favorite organic, pure additive-free (GAPS-legal) coconut cream or milk or coconut flakes (not de-fatted) for making the milk? I've tried making coconut cream from Artisina coconut spread in a jar and it tastes yucky to me - it has a non-fresh taste. I've also " Let's do organic " creamed coconut and that tasted hideous to me. Again, it doesn't taste like fresh coconut. The only canned coconut milk my local HFS sells that is additive-free is Natural Value lite coconut milk, which is the best tasting canned coconut milk I've yet tried, BUT, it's much too watery and I don't want to eat canned foods with regularity. It looks like making coconut milk from shredded coconut might be a more expensive option(?) but might produce a better tasting product? I love the ease of just adding warm water to hardened coconut cream, but just haven't found one yet that tastes fresh and good. I also haven't found a powdered coconut milk that doesn't contain casein - is there one? Eventually, I plan to make my own from scratch, but in the meantime need to find a tasty commercial product. I haven't tried Tropical Traditions flakes or coconut cream yet - any comments on those? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Suze
