UNITED STATES: " FDA Approves New HIV Blood Test from Roche "

Associated Press (12.30.08)

On Dec. 29, federal regulators announced they have approved a Roche

human plasma test for HIV, including HIV-2 and HIV-1 Group O strains.

The latter strains are mainly found in patients from Africa, but the

Food and Drug Administration said cases have recently been detected in

the United States. The TaqScreen MPX Test also screens for hepatitis B

and C.
