Guest guest
Dear forum members, This is to inform you that the National Coalition on HIV/AIDS Bill which included members of Indian Network for people living with HIV/AIDS (INP+) with support of all the state level PLHIV Networks along with NGO representatives had a Dharna in front of the Ministry of Law and Justice, Shastri Bhawan New Delhi today (10th December 2008) between 11 am to 1.00 pm. After the Dharna, we have submitted a letter to Mr. Hansraj Bhardwaj, Minister of Law and Justice along with the signatures of 89 Organisations throughout India The same letter was faxed by all these organisations on 8th December 2008 directly to the Minister of Law and Justice. We were all standing outside the Ministry of Law and Justice as only three people were permitted to go and meet the Minister. Jahnabi Goswami -General Secretary of INP+, Loon Gangte - President of DNP+ and Raman Chawla - Advocacy Officer of Lawyers Collective went and met the Minister of Law and Justice. The Minister of Law said " we have not made any change but this is the same Bill sent to us by Minister of Health " and further promissed to take necessary actions on the HIV/AIDS Bill. He has also promissed to meet with the representatives of INP+, Lawyers Collective and supporters for further discussions in this regard. Networks of People living with HIV/AIDS in India along with NGOs and supportes are jointly advocating for the passing of the original HIV/AIDS Bill which was submitted by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). We request the supporters and well wishers to join us. Warm regards, Celina National Advocacy Officer INP+ G-46, First Floor, Green Park Main New Delhi - 110 016 India Phone: +91 - 11 42657671/ 3 Mobile: +91 - 9868 745 925 e-mail: <celina@...>
