Guest guest
Lugol's is available by rx only if in containers larger than 1 oz. It is a new DEA law that went into effect in August of last year. You can buy it on the internet but in the limited quantities. www.jcrows.com has it. You can check the files section as there are options there as well. Guest guest
I use Lugol's and I just add it to a small amount of orange juice or V-8 and drink it. I follow that with a glass of water and usually something to eat. I use the 5% so I am not sure of how many drops you would need. I started with a couple of drops a day and increased over a few weeks time so as not to cause too many detox problems all at once. Guest guest
I use lugols in a glass of water that has a tsp of apple cider vinegar added. Dr Jarvis in his book Vermont Folk Medicine says the vinegar helps the Lugol's work better.I do this in the morning on an empty stomach and it seems to work fine. Although I skin tested and muscle tested before purchasing the LS, I’m now wondering if I actually need the iodine, or if perhaps I just took too much too quickly. Guest guest
I would put it in water or OJ. Each drop of 2% solution is 2.5 mgs so you will want to do about 10 drops. You should also add 2,000 mgs Vit C, 1/2 tsp Celtic Salt to your regimen. Magnesium is also a good thing to add at 200 mgs or more. Guest guest
You should take iodine with food - especially the liquid as it can create a stomach upset. Guest guest
There are many thyroid companion nutrients - see my website www.naturalthyroidchoices.com that will help with thyroid hormone. It isn't just iodine that makes the difference. It can be toxicity that hinders it as well - mercury, bromide, fluoride. Poor diets that are low in good oils effect it too. Steph Lugol's solution Hi, Could I be so incredibly low on iodine that even almost after 10 weeks (or so) on taking 8 drops 4 times a day of 5% Lugol’s solution that I STILL don’t have any improvement? I have done patch tests and they’re gone in hours (and I’m talking large patch tests on the forearm which wind up – after I spread the iodine in…about 3 inches square)? I would have thought that it would at least have some sign of a little bit overnight…but they still disappear very quickly. Can I increase the iodine level? How much is too much of the 5%? My hope is that my obvious low stores of iodine (once replenished) would help my metabolism back on track! Advice please?
Guest guest
Thank you Steph, After looking at the NTC site – I see that ATP Cofactors and Magnesium Oil is recommended (with reference to sites on where to buy). Are these the absolute must-haves or are there other items that would be just as good? I’m unemployed and I definitely want to feel better but these look kind of pricey and sound like they’d only last a bit longer than a month (making a cost per day pretty high). Are there any other complementary products for these two items that are a bit more price-friendly? Guest guest
They are just suggestions and not necessary. You need mg but you can take a supplement. Some do better with the oil if their gut is compromised. 1 gallong lasted an entire year + for me. The ATP Cofactors in some people offer that final "push" over the edge to feeling a lot better. Guest guest
Hi -- when you said " 8 drops 4 times a day of 5% Lugol’s solution " -- did you mean 8 drops total per day or would that be 32 drops total per day?32 drops of 5% Lugol's works out to 200mg Iodine/Iodide which would be a very high daily dose. I'm pretty sure you mean 8 drops daily (50mg) but just wanted to check. cheersIanOn Tue, Apr 28, 2009 at 4:19 PM, ladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...> wrote: They are just suggestions and not necessary. You need mg but you can take a supplement. Some do better with the oil if their gut is compromised. 1 gallong lasted an entire year + for me.  The ATP Cofactors in some people offer that final " push " over the edge to feeling a lot better.    Lugol's solution Hi, Could I be so incredibly low on iodine that even almost after 10 weeks (or so) on taking 8 drops 4 times a day of 5% Lugol’s solution that I STILL don’t have any improvement? Guest guest
, I am new to the group so I don't know if there has already been discussion of the patch test. I recently read Dr. Abraham's June, 2008 " The bioavailability of iodine applied to the skin " which is available at: http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/pdfs/IOD23.pdf In it he states: " the skin iodine patch test is not a reliable method to assess whole body sufficiency for iodine. " and goes on to explain why. Guest guest
Yes it does. It flushes halides along with being antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal. What % solution is it? You take it in liquid (of your choice) with food. Steph Lugol's Solution I have had a bottle of Lugol's Solution for a couple of years, but don't know how to use it as a supplement? I've heard it has a cleansing action. RP

Guest guest
What percentage is the strongest solution? You can make it in many percentages. Without knowing how much it is I can't tell you what I think you should try. 5% solution has 6.25 mgs per drop. Guest guest
Hi Steph, I called the company and they said it contains 5 grams of iodine per 100 ML, and 10 grams of potasium iodide per 100 ML. My bottle has 500ML total. Does that help?
