Is my coconut supposed to be like this?

Last week, my husband purchased a Thai coconut for me.  $6!

Today, we went to crack it open.  The bottom was soft and pinkish.  After some

hard THWACKS, we finally got the juice out...almost two cups!  It tastes pretty

good.

The coconut inside is pretty slimey.  Is that how it's supposed to be?  Had our

coconut gone " bad " ?  The outer later was a little soft, and when you looked

INSIDE the coconut, the bottom looked brown, not white.  Should we not drink the

juice?
