Guest guest
Hi there! 's description of a sonohystogram is accurate, very similar to an HSG using water instead of dye. I will say that for some reason I found the sonohyst to be more painful than the HSG, perhaps it was the amount of fluid used? But it could also have been the state of my uterus when I had one....I had extensive scarring when I had one done and that may also be the reason for the discomfort. Take a few ibuprofen or a mild pain pill beforehand to reduce the pain of the uterine contractions and you'll be fine. I was on 2.5mg of premarin TWICE a day and had no problems so I'm not sure why your doctor is saying that 2.5 is the maximum dose. There are others on the board who have been on even higher doses and have done fine as well....are you predisposed to blood clots for some reason? As for intercourse, I have found it occassionally painful, but only after surgery. (I mean, once we resume having intercourse after the 30-day waiting period after surgery I have had some pain.) I think it's just the healing process and nothing more. I have put my poor uterus through quite a bit in the past year! If you are having regular pain with intercourse now it could be indicative of something else as well. Have you been checked for endometriosis? That can cause pain with intercourse as well.... Hang in there! Gwen
