Guest guest
I can't say for CLO only because I only started taking it, but IMO, coconut oil is the best thing for viruses. I can chase away a cold/flu with a couple of TBS's of coconut oil. If you have a hard time with coconut oil (although I think a piece of toast with coconut oil is heavenly), you can try coconut butter in hot water. It is quite tasty. I personally think you catch a lot of colds when your adrenal is exhausted (stress could affect your adrenal glands (fight or flight) - supplement with foods that contain tons of Vit C) or your thyroid is sluggish - underactive (coconut oil will definitely rev it up). Guest guest
I've read that most people are low in magnesium - the soils are depleted and things like stress, coffee, and lack of sleep drain it from us. Supplementing that may help. Also, good quality probiotics, once or twice a day (yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, etc.) are supposed to prevent illness, at least in kids. Check your air quality - it could be mold giving off spores somewhere. If you work, you could ask the HVAC people - where I used to work we all got colds alot and the HVAC guy said there was an area that was thick with nasty mold and stuff. Finally one co-worker got legionnaire's and almost died. Then they cleaned it out. You could be getting gassed from sewer gas coming in through a trap in an unused drain (the water evaporates over time). When your respiratory systen is constantly under attack from pollutants or irritants, it can't fight infections as well. I've heard and some have verified it, that putting drops of hydrogen peroxide in your ears several times a day can knock out a cold in a day. I tried it and got an earache instead of a cold once. I then used colloidial silver instead and it cleared right up. Pomegranites helps fight off colds. Inhaling salty water (either using a netti pot or a spritzer to spray a cloud into the air and then inhaling from it - do that several times) can really clear congestion nicely. I hope you feel better soon! > > It started about 10 days back with sore throat that broke into a full fledged cold. After about 3-4 days, it seemed to subside as the sneezing stopped. Guest guest
Consume your lactos to build up some good gut flora, gingered carrots, kraut, kombucha, kvass, kefir, yogurt. The immune system begins in the gut. I agree with you that your immune system probably took a hit from the stress. I know you know this, but you gotta figure out a way to deal with the stress. That'll kill ya many, many ways! I was under a tremendous amount of stress at work, and I knew it was going to put me in the hospital. I was having trouble sleeping, so I just started getting out of bed when I woke up at 4 am, and working out. It was purely motivated by self-preservation, not fitness. You might try eliminating dairy for a while to get the phlegm under control. Guest guest
Consume dairy, eggs, coconut meat or cream, red meat/organs/glands, bone broth, on a daily basis. Olive oil, Palm oil, macadamia nuts, and pine nuts are ok too.  Avoid all vegetable oils other than what I listed above. Avoid refined sugar. Have starches as a much higher level of your daily intake over fruits. Have more green veggies.  Another thing you may want to do is to have your vitamin D levels checked on a weekly basis by Lab core. www.greenpastures.org recommends that people have a half tspn of butter oil and a half tspn of fclo on a daily basis and that will raise your vitamin d levels to optimum. Can't say for sure though. Ideally your blood level of 25 OH D should be 60ng/ml  Have 4 tspns of kelp granules a day boiled in your bone broth for 3 months. Then lower to 1 tspn a day:  http://www.vitacost.com/Maine-Coast-Sea-Vegetables-Organic-Kelp-Granules-Salt-Al\ ternative  Have 7mg of magnesium chloride per a pound of bodyweight a day for three months. You can also include a weeks intake into a once a week bath. Then after three months reduce down to 4.5mg of magnesium chloride oil a day or just have a weeks worth in a bath once a week.  http://life-enthusiast.com/usa/magnesium-gallon-p-820.html  Get in all your organs by either directly buying them from a story and preparing them or getting them freeze dried:  http://www.drrons.com/organ-delight-traditional-superfood.htm http://www.drrons.com/grassfed-organs-glands.htm (get the ovary from this page, 1 a day)  Let me know if you need more specific directions. Give me more details for that though.  Dan Holt From: Kathy Dickson <kathy.dickson@...> Subject: RE: Bad cold since 10 days ... Guest guest
I meant to say 4.5mg of magnesium per a pound of bodyweight for maintenance daily.  Are you taking in enough calories? Especially when your body heat is up you want to take in more calories.  Try to find out your bodyfat % if you can. Take out that portion of your weight from your lean bodymass. Have 14 calories for every pound of lean body mass you have (excluding bodyfat). Then depending on your activity level multiply that amount by 1.25, 1.5, or 2. That's your daily caloric intake.  What does your daily activity level look like? Do you have a desk job or a job where you sit down all day. Do you walk around a lot. Do you do any sport of physical exercise?  If you fall into the category of sedentary take in a 75% fat, 15% carb, and 10% protein intake. Walking is a sedentary activity.  If you fall into the category of active have a 50/50 ratio of carbs to fat.  In all cases have 0.36g of protein per a pound of bodyweight and that's it. Eat high fat red meat from lamb, goat, and cow.  Try to get in raw foods with every meal. If you don't feel you're getting enough raw foods you may not have enough digestive enzymes and probiotics in your gut:  http://probiotics.mercola.com/probiotics-powder.html  80% of your immune health is from your good gut bacteria. Your body optimally stores 100 trillion good bacteria. A serving of this probiotics actually contains 200 billion good bacteria. Good bacteria also account for most of your serotonin (happy chemcial) production.  Dan Holt From: Kathy Dickson <kathy.dickson@ tx.rr.com> Subject: RE: Bad cold since 10 days ... Guest guest
Oh yeah, have 1-2 tblspns of freshground flaxseeds daily. Keep them in the freezer when you're not using them. Guest guest
Working out did help with the stress. I have been healing from severe adrenal fatigue since last fall. On a scale from 1-4, 4 being the worst, I was 3 and heading for 4. Yes, I did take some Standard Process supplements, Thyrotrophin, Drenatrophin, and Drenamin. My alternative health care provider muscle tested me for dosage and usage, and even though 2 of those are for adrenal support, I needed both. But, the recovery is a long term process. My opinion is that the best thing you can do for short term results is some form of exercise to get the feel good hormones going and build good gut flora to boost your immune system. Shaker, stress definitely reduces immune function, as does sugar and alcohol. I believe that raw dairy and natural high quality cod liver oil are the most potent optimizers of the immune system. I get the Blue Ice natural fermented CLO from Green Pastures and take a teaspoon or more each day in the winter to boost vitamin A and D levels. Most other commercial CLOs are highly processed and have artificial A and D added, which may not be as effective. Raw dairy supports proper digestion and gut health and also provides all the nutrients we need for good health. I drink raw Jersey milk and plain raw homemade kefir. Pasteurized milk and commercial kefir are not effective and may even be detrimental. Most commercial yogurt and kefir is highly processed and loaded with immune suppressing sugar.
