Guest guest
Corinna, I don't know if this really answers your question, but I was told I had a stenoic cervix when I went for a the saline tyoe HSG ( I forget the name) The doctor kept trying to get the catheder in and was forcing it hard for a long time. Than he told me that he would manully dilate me, which didn't work. This was all without any meds. Talk about pain. As it turned out there appearded to be scare tissue. When I went in for an operative hyst two months following that, between my retroverted uterus and the stenotic cervix the doc pushed to hard with the scope and perferated my uterus. Fats forward a year. When I finally saw and A list doc, Dr. Cohen, when I had my HSG he was able get thru the the cervix, but with difficulty. He had to than give me lidocane and try to dilate me, he was able to dilate me enpugh to get the cath in and break thru some minor scar tissue there. When I followed that with a diagnostic hyst he again incountered difficulty though this time the scar tissue wasn't a problem, just that the cervix would not really dilate. I do not believe he needed it to dilate much for the hyst. I guess it would depend on the individual. I dont know if this helps or not.
