Guest guest
Hello, I'm wondering if people here think going to the dentist for teeth cleaning and check-ups are harmful or helpful? I'll admit to a full blown phobia of dentists, and I haven't been to a dentist in at least 10 years, maybe longer. I take good care of my teeth, brushing with soap and oil pulling regularly. I haven't had any teeth problems that I've noticed either until now. I noticed a tooth looking like it was developing some plaque, so I think I ought to go in. But is the teeth cleaning and picking with the metal tools, and floride treatments, x-rays, measuring your gums and everything else involved with the dentist considered safe by holistic people? I don't know of any holsitic dentists in this area. A friend of mine developed some chronic stomach issues after visiting her dentist and blames all the debris flying around in her mouth when they did a solar cleaning. What do you all think about dental visits and what should I have done and what shouldn't I have done? Thank-you! Judy
Guest guest
I would suggest looking for a holistic dentist (http://www.holisticdental.org/) or (http://www.iaomt.org/) Once you find some prospects call to see how flexible they are. The dentist I use will let me refuse whatever I want. So for example I don't do annual xrays and never to fluoride treatments. Even they tooth polish they use has fluoride in it. So they just use plain pumice. Good Luck, > > Hello, > I'm wondering if people here think going to the dentist for teeth cleaning and check-ups are harmful or helpful? Guest guest
, I did a search and their is only 1 holistic dentist in our whole state and thats on the other side of the state! :-/ I think if I decide to go I will ask if I can pick and choose the treatments. Hopefully they will let me do that. Thanks, Judy > > > > Hello, > > I'm wondering if people here think going to the dentist for teeth cleaning and check-ups are harmful or helpful? Guest guest
Judy, I would guess there are more than 1, they just may hard to find. You can also try your local WAPF chapter and your local holistic moms chapter.(http://www.holisticmoms.org/). try these search terms in google or your local yellow pages: alternative OR natural OR holistic OR biological dentistry Cheers, > > > > > > Hello, > > > I'm wondering if people here think going to the dentist for teeth cleaning and check-ups are harmful or helpful? Guest guest
You can check the IAOMT.org website and see if there is a listed provider in your area. I've had better experiences with their dentists overall. R
Guest guest
What state do you live in? Maybe, someone can help you find one from this group. I had plaque a while back from drinking orange juice. I drank apple cider vinegar with honey and after three days I blasted the plaque off with the water pik. Dr. Walter Last says we don't need to see the dentist every six months, he also says we shouldn't brush out teeth too much. I have periodontal issues from lyme so I need to keep my gums/teeth clean. I now mix baking soda and sea salt in water, let it dissolve, take a swig and brush my gums with a great toothbrush. Dr. Walter Last is a trip and has a rebellious streak that i like. Guest guest
Hi Joan, I live in Ft. Wayne, IN. So far I've not had any luck with finding a good dentist. Did you drink the apple cider vinegar with honey as a remedy to help with the plaque? Does that help to loosen the plaque? I own a water pik... I think I'll give this a try if that is what you did. I drink ACV occasionally, but I've always rinsed my teeth quickly after wards because I was worried it was too acidic and would eat at the enamel. Can you tell me exactly what you did with the ACV? I brush my teeth with bar soap and water and I was oil swishing with coconut oil but I think I'm going to switch to a different kind of oil. The coconut oil just seems too thin compared to when I did it with unrefined sunflower oil. I think that the sunflower oil got my teeth cleaner. I'm going to see if I can find Dr. Walter Last on line. Thanks! Judy What state do you live in? Maybe, someone can help you find one from this group.
