Guest guest
, Is there a reason you take minerals at night besides cal/mag aiding sleep? I am wondering about different magnesium preparations. I only have oxide and gluconate. Does it take a better preparation to effectively get magnesium into the cells? If I take a whole tablet it aids peristalsis but it also seems to affect my fluid balance. I guess magnesium moves water into the bowels? J. Guest guest
Dear , Dr Underwood always has people find Multi vitamins and Minerals that are separate, and Says to take them at night when your body uses the minerals. Even in the mega vitamin IV's the Trace minerals and Cal and Mag are given by push separately, the reasons I will find out tonight rather than quote them wrong. Guest guest
If you want the most absorptive magnesium on the market, I would suggest Magnesium orotate. Not only is it supposed to be 100% absorbable it also goes farther into the cell than other magnesiums. Well, actually some don't even go into the cell. They just go to the cell wall. But orotates go into the cell. I also understand that it is best to take calcium at night because that is when the body uses the most to do repairs and so that is when it gets pulled from bones and if you supplement then you have less bone loss. Guest guest
The coral calcium that I have has balanced naturally occuring magnesium in it which is adequate for the average person. Those with cfs, often have a higher need for magnesium, which is why they sometimes do mag stearate injections. I was not able to do that because I was too ill to go to the Doctor and I found Mag oro and was ecstatic. It really works well. So, if you have extra magnesium needs then, yes you can supplement with mag oro. But, for the average person there is enough in Dr. Barefoots calcium to do the trick. Not all coral calciums have good levels of magnesium in them. It is important to make sure. Hope that helps. Donna p.s. according to Dr. Barefoot he and some other Dr.'s tested all the coral cal on the market they could find and some were nothing more than beach sand. If it is really inexpensive, there is probably a reason. Also, some have baking soda added to them and other ingredients that alot of people would not want to ingest. Why, I have no idea? It totally escapes me. Re: Minerals Seems I have read somewhere that calcium should be taken with magnesium. If this correct, should coral cal be accompanied with mag orotate? Guest guest
Hi Vilik I use Atrium. Since you have a daily need for minerals I would think you would need to take them daily? Insomnia, for instance, is usually from a lack of magnesium or seratonin etc. And so if you need magnesium and take it and get relief, you are not " curing " insomnia, just giving your body what it requires to function properly, Right? And so you can't take it and be cured of insomnia and then stop taking it, any more than you can eat and be cured of hunger and not eat again. Make sense? You can however improve in health and not need as much, which is what I have done. I used to take three mag oros a day. A normal person would take one. Now I take none. I am so restored in health that the mag I get from the coral calcium is sufficient. Guest guest
Yeah I used his stuff for a little while I spent a lot of money on it too. The man has done the research. He knows what is needed unfortunately his products are very harsh - after a few days I started vomiting. I would recommend the some of Young Living Oils products for minerals because they are a combination of minerals, natural products and EO. Though I haven't tried them yet. Dwight Munson Minerals Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations or good experiences of mineral supplements ? Particularly any thoughts on Dr Wallach's colloidal minerals. I am not really a fan of taking shop-bought supplements so have recently just started trying to make my own from seaweed. I understand seaweeds to be one of the richest mineral foods available but hate the stuff. Apparently, Hijiki has 14 x Calcium of wholemilk, Dulse has 30 x Potassium of bananas and 200 x Iron of beets, Nori is high in amino acids and has the BetaCarotene of carrots, plus they all have a large array pf trace minerals, etc. I thought it may be a good idea to make a 'mineral tea' by simmering a selection of seaweeds for up to an hour, straining off the dark liquid and drinking a cup per day with added butter/Vitamin A to release bile and aid absorption, just as the Tibetans add lumps of butter to their 40 cups of tea per day! Any thoughts on this ?
Guest guest
Here is some information which might or might not be helpful to some of you re copper. I have just gotten a homeopathic copper, which because of the way homeopathics are made, will not harm the body. It is called: cuprum metallicum, 30c (take 3 pellets per day) Also, yes, I am beginning to have aches and pains and my knees have been really bothering me for the first time in my life. Also started having cramps at night in my legs, which I had never before had. I know some of this is a deficiency of Calcium, but I am taking calcium, and so many darn vitamins, minerals, homeopathics, etc., that I don't seem to have any time left in the day. Guest guest
, you can get blood tests for copper and potassium. these levels indicate how much of these minerals are in your blood circulation and available to your body's cells as needed. These are also the most accurate tests and the only tests that can diagnose conditions such as hypokalemia, low potassium. Hypokalemic periodic paralysis is a condition that can accompany hyperthyroidism. Here, very low blood potassium levels can contribute to muscle weakness, etc. I wrote an article on this that you can find on www.suite101.com

From what I remember, seaweed is the only vegetable that contains the full range of minerals and trace minerals in perfect balance (ratio of individual components). Guest guest
I have used colloidal minerals for several years, & liked the effect I noticed on my skin... smoother & less dry. in fact, my sister, mom & a co-worker reported the same benefits. In fact, that helped me feel that supplementation would be beneficial @ the beginning of my CA therapy. But neither my d.o. nor herbalist like them. they recommended alfalfa & kelp. right now, I am using 3 to 4 Tbs. of flax oil with 1/4 cup cottage cheese with each Tbs.per day & my skin seems to me about like it was on the colloidal minerals. I'm not using the alfalfa or kelp now. any comments or discussion on this would be appreciated. Geraldine Date: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 21:25:00 +0200 From: crystalpyramid@... Guest guest
Is there a range, sort of...we want these numbers to be around 60-100 as a (I hate the term) Normal frequency range, when it is over 100 or under 60 we have to be concerned that this frequency is off. Now is it to low or to high, we don't know since we can't diagnose, we can make an educated guess by the other things we see, how has the digestion been? Do they have problems in Auto Trivector with vitamin K deficiency? Are they taking a lot of this supplement? If it is potassium do they have an adrenal problem which can cause it to be severely depleted? By looking at these hints we can estimate if they need it and will they assimilate it. Many times people are taking it but the digestion is not using it right, or they are missing a key, like amino acids to make the enzymes bread down or the enzymes to break down the protein, etc. Numbers can go into the negative as they can in all charts and graphs, but you don't often see many there at one time. As to toxic mineral, don't worry so much about that, pay attention to the allergy reaction because those that are toxic tend to show an allergy to it. Yours in Health, Kathy (ND) minerals Hi. I am wanting to know what a negative value means next to a mineral in Risk Profiles. How do you know when a mineral is low or toxic? Is there a range to look at? Guest guest
From: " SL Pedigo " <slpedigo@...> Sent: Tuesday, March 28, 2006 9:46 PM ** Hi Sara Lou, A naturopathic doctor, some years ago, was insistent that I take Concentrace. I never could figure out why I just didn't seem to do too well on it. A few weeks ago I took it with me to my chiropractor who muscle tested me for it. Wham! It was one of the most weakening substances I'd ever tested. He kind've chuckled and said that several of his patients also tested quite weak on Concentrace. I also " intuit " that the colloidal minerals are just not for me. I used Wallach's a long time ago, Body Toddy, and several others. It's disappointing as I'd like to have a source for mineral " insurance " . I've used Donna's Fulvic Acid product without any negative effects, but I've not used it consistently enough to be positive about it---yet. I have one more bottle waiting for after I finish up something else. I'm really *trying* to develop some discipline and consistency with my experiments! Obviously these products are not right for you and your particular chemistry either. One man's meat and all that......... It could be that these products are too high in some mineral that you also have in abundance, thus creating a deficiency in another one. The twitching makes me think first of magnesium need, but could be almost anything else, I suppose. Sharon >I need some additional opinions in interpreting my symptoms. > > I was given some of Wallach's Colloidal Minerals and also some Concntrace > in a dropper bottle. Guest guest
When I tried concentrace, my heart did flip flops. I have no trouble with Donna's fulvics and maybe am making progress, hard to tell for sure yet.
Guest guest
Hi Sara Lou. I didn't do well on concentrace either. I sold it for years because it seemed to work well for others, but it didn't work for me, so I kept looking for a mineral product that would. I have not had a problem with the fulvics but then they are not regular minerals. Fulvic acids themselves have unique properties that make fulvic acid minerals unique. It's like trying to compare ozone and Vit O and decide which is better. They are two different products with oxygen in common. Doesn't mean it is fair to compare them. Fulvics minerals are the same as what occur in plants. And when you take fulvic acids into your body they have the ability to turn in organic minerals in to organic, like what occurs in the body. Fulvic acids turn heavy metals into organic metals that the body can use or eliminate. They chelate heavy metals and industrial toxins and are anti viral and bacterial and fungal. Heavy metals get stuck in the body because the body cannot use them and doesn't know what to do with them so it tucks them away here and there. Fulvics change their form so the body goes, " Oh, I know what this is and then chooses to use it or get rid of it. " Since it can't use mercury it starts to move it out of the system. etc. Fulvic acids (not folic acid which is a b-vitamin - for those who aren't clear) stop burn pain in an instant, I recently experienced second degree extremely painful burn on arm and the fulvics stopped the pain totally. Really remarkable. They also massively increase absorption of nutrients as a fulvic acid molecule can pick up as many as 60 nutrients and carry them into cells. Compare this with calcium that can pick up 6-8 maybe. Also they are the smallest molecule known to man and can get into places that other things can't and so they can get to toxins hidden here and there. Anyplace a toxin can go fulvics can go and get them out or neutralize them. They are wonderful. Doesn't mean they will work for you. Smile. But it does mean they might be worth trying. Guest guest
Hi Sharon. I just always love your posts. And I think you are right on with this observation. I thought (which is why I agree with you. lol) but didn't say it. And this is one of the things that I like about fulvics, they help the body get rid of excess, so they balance body minerals. For me, they are the best I have used. Readily available by mail-order -- http://www.supportme.org is discounted, although their selection is limited. I don't take multis because I need more control than they allow, but their micellised (liquid) forms of single minerals and vitamins have really helped me.
