Check out lifekind.com - they have high quality chemical-free mattresses.

However, they are also very expensive. They do run sales occasionally, with

goodies like " free shipping " , but those sales run only about 3 days at a time.

Check out European Sleepworks in Berkeley. They have high quality, chemical

free mattresses, at affordable prices. You can test them out on their show

room floor. If you can¹t drive that far then you can call them because I

think that they have sattelite stores closer to the Southbay. I highly

recommend the oxygen pillow too.

Three years ago, I purchased a latex (real rubber) mattress in an organic

cotton-wool cover -- no springs to poke me, no chemicals to poison me, and no

plastics to make me sweat! -- a latex pillow, an all-cotton mattress pad, and

organic cotton sheets. I've never slept better! (Note: Latex is NOT the same

thing as Tempurpedic/memory foam, which is NOT a natural material!)

It takes some research to figure out what you want, and latex is not cheap --

but it has a long life and doesn't deform like inner spring mattresses do. I

purchased my bed and bedding online from The Natural Sleep Store, which had a

liberal return policy, and was quite happy with my experience.

I suggest you check local furniture stores to see if they have latex beds you

can " test " on the display floor.

Also, what do you put on your laundry? Detergents and fabric softeners have

nasty chemicals ... I have used Soap Nuts for a couple of years and LOVE that

they don't leave any smelly residue behind.

Good luck getting a good night's sleep!
