Guest guest
Hi, " It was Dr. Price's Groundbreaking book " Nutrition and Physical Degeneration " that allowed for the continuation of research into the field of nutrition to take place. Dr. Price studied the health and diets of indigenous and non-indigenous civilizations all over the world for a period of nearly ten years. It was in these studies that established the standard of optimal health, as well as the basis for understanding the causative factors of disease and illness. Dr. Price had discovered many modernized cultures who had adopted the poor dietary habits of Europeans. Bone decay, tooth decay, malnourishment and disease were all prevalent among these people. Price had discovered that in cases of isolated, non-industrialized cultures, those people who remained on their traditional diets were virtually free of any disease or maladies, even in old age. Many of the cited cultures were using all of the available food resources to their greatest ability. Many modern diseases were completely unknown to these indigenous cultures involved in the Price study. The Price study is still heralded today as an extraordinary testament to the power of nutrition on human health. The Discoveries Of Human Metabolism in the 20th and 21st Centuries The school of Metabolic Typing owes its gratitude to many people. Most notably are: Dr. , , PhD., Rudolf Wiley, PhD., Dr. Kelley and Wolcott. Dr. was among the first doctors to posit the term " biochemical individuality " . Dr. discovered that individuality pervaded every part of the human body. He observed and noted the inherent differences on a gross and a microscopic level between people. He asserted that: " Inherent differences extend to the structure and metabolism of every cell, and determine the speed and efficiency with which cells perform their essential functions. " " Unbalanced or inadequate nutrition at the cellular level is a major cause of human disease. " Few professionals at the time acknowledged this material. His discoveries were later noted. discovered during the 1950's that different people metabolize different nutrients for different reasons. discovered through objective, clinical observations that there are 3 different and distinct types of cellular metabolism. He referred to the term " oxidation rate " in order to define each of these metabolisms. His work studied the differences in a person's cellular energy production. He found that in the Kreb's Cycle (the cellular process of energy production) some people were overly reliant on carbohydrates for energy production. He termed these people " fast oxidizers " . Others were slow to oxidize carbohydrates. He termed these people " slow oxidizers " . In order for health to be possible, fast oxidizers require higher amounts of fat and purine containing proteins, while slow oxidizers require higher concentrations of carbohydrates and much lower amounts of protein and fat. The nutritional requirements for the slow and fast oxidizers is strikingly opposite! The inability to meet the body's specific nutritional demands for energy production became recognized as a major cause of human illness. 's contribution to human health, while little recognized even to this day, is monumental. Over the course of several decades had developed an entire system of nutrition based upon oxidative metabolism. He authored the groundbreaking book, " Nutrition and Your Mind " in 1972, which discusses the findings of his research. 's work with the Venous Plasma Blood pH was succeeded by Dr. Rudolf Wiley throughout the 1970's and 80's. Dr. D. Kelley had accidentally stumbled upon biochemical individuality as he battled pancreatic cancer. As a dentist he was familiar with the work of Weston A. Price and had developed a curiosity with tooth, and bone deterioration as they related to nutrition. His mother, Velma Kelley, a Kansas farm native, had a strong belief in native intelligence and basic dietary principles. She insisted that her son take on a pure diet of vegetables and whole grains and to give up the junk food addiction that he had developed. As he cured himself over the course of two years he began to study more in-depth. Kelley's major revelation occurred with the subsequent healing of his wife from environmental illness. Her recovery occured with the opposite diet plan that had worked for him, animal foods that were rich with fats and proteins. This marked a turning point in his work. Dr. Kelley went on to discover the key roles that the autonomic nervous system plays in human metabolism. Unlike , Dr. Kelley used the patterns of the autonomic nervous system to diagnose and treat patients. Kelley's school of metabolic typing became known as the " autonomic school " . Wolcott was a direct student of Dr. Kelley. While working as Dr. Kelley's assistant, Wolcott noted how much success was possible under the autonomic school of metabolic typing. Wolcott himself healed from chronic allergies that had persisted for decades. He noticed though that a small but significant number of patients were not responding at all to the autonomic approach. In fact their health deteriorated further. Wolcott was puzzled. He began to investigate the studies of Dr. from two decades earlier. He came to understand that both the oxidative school and the autonomic school were correct. He discovered that a person will either be an " oxidative dominant " or an " autonomic dominant " . This has become known as " the Dominance Factor " . Wolcott's work became the culmination of his book, " The Metabolic Typing Diet. " Wolcott propelled the many developed schools of metabolic typing into new arenas. Since its inception, metabolic typing has evolved into a clinical form of nutrition that maintains integrity, excellent effectiveness in practice and offers the greatest potential for individualized healing. Guest guest
Hi , did you write this, or are these excerpts from reviews? Very interesting pointers, though it would be nice to have more information on the autonomic principle.
