Guest guest
My husband is only taking ginko biloba for his ms. No dr ordered meds as of yet. He still continues to improve. My question is thus. Is he improving because of the nature of the disease or is all of the exercising, stretching and massage working (along with the ginko)? We have noticed that if he doesn't get 30 minutes of actual exercising and stretching the next day he can't do as much. He has progressed to the point of being able to walk to the store to get the electric chair! He can walk short distances without even his cane! Its totally amazing to me. I keep telling him how in awe I am of his progress. He feels like he is not a human yet as he can't fully do everything he wants when he wants. Things like getting up and going to the stores without having to drag along a wheel chair (for stores that don't have the chair available). Going to restruants are more difficult but we have found that we can do that still! He walks in and sits down at the closest table. If it's fast food I go and order and bring to the table if it's a sit down we just wait until the waiter/waitress comes to order. Now he has only been diagnosed a little over a week (the 8th of July) and had spent about 3 months of having major issues with walking and moving around. So if anyone has any insight about how he's doing I would really appreciate it. BTW he did not have any treatments when in the hospital except for steroids. thanks Donna in VA
Guest guest
Hi Donna, The exercising and stretching are critical for success. Keep it up, shun the meds. Keep up the good work. Guest guest
Congrats! I am very happy to hear this. His recovery may be based on his mind - his positive mental state, his support system (e.g.; you), his outlook, etc. Keep up the great work. -Tim > > My husband is only taking ginko biloba for his ms. Guest guest
That's great. One thing that rang alarm bells was " steroids " . There are people here who know more about them than me, all I would say is that they could be the reason for the improvement at the moment. Long term they aren't good news. The exercise sounds impressive - I too have noticed that the more exercise I do, the more I can do in general.Keep on keeping on!Janet To: mscured From: sdbmshad@... Guest guest
He may still be in the relapsing/remitting stage of MS. Stay out of the fast food joints if you don't want to make things worse. Prednisone takes away the inflamation but it isn't permanent and the results are less pronounced over time. You can do the same thing with diet changes without having negative side-effects. You have the opportunity to start early in the prevention of symptom worsening. Take advantage of it by being offensive instead of defensive (no entendre intended). The stretching is good. > > My husband is only taking ginko biloba for his ms. No dr ordered meds as of yet. He still continues to improve. My question is thus.
