I also really like Dr. Okihira's at iherb. It doesn't list as high of a

count, but it packs a punch.

I take Stabilized Acidophilus by NOW Foods. They don't require

refrigeration. Recent studies say probiotics should be taken after a meal,

but you could try on an empty stomach and after meals.

There's Jarrow brand that's supposed to be good, and it's enteric coated.

Called Jarro-dophilus EPS. It's strep-free.

Culturelle is another good one, but some people have problems with it.

They can all be found at iherb.com.

We use this one. Not too expensive and doesn't need refrigeration. We

refrigerate it anyway after we get it.

you might want to research titanium dioxide before you buy that probiotic. I'm

not sure if that is something good for our kids or not. We all have to be so

careful what we give them.

Ros,

I couldn't use the oregano oil, same with olive oil and some other stuff. No MSM

for me neither, most people can take it it makes me sick. Hope you stay well. I

had to take Ketoconazole for 6 weeks. My doctor monitored me closely with blood

test and a ct-scan.

Hi Eva

Thanks for the thought. Yes, I've been on 50-100 billion good

bacteria a day for the last four years. And other herbs like Pau

D'arco, olive leaf extract, oregano oil for a short time (which

wasn't good for my bowel). Also l-glutamine, candida diet, and

nystatin and Diflucan periodically. Doing all I can but my liver's

not too good so doc doesn't want to use Ketoconazole or heavier

drugs. Neither do I. But life is fine with not much pain. I'm not

complaining!

Joy, I had been using Kyo-Dophilus 1.5 Billion Cells for the last year or so, but someone said to get a higher culture so I just got NOW Foods 8 Billion Culture Cells per capsule. Just looking at my NOW product, it says refrigerate. So in the refrigerator. This seems to be a nice product and Swansons has good prices. .

I know there are products that need refrigeration that are sold in the refrigerated section at health food stores. There is one in particular but I can't think of the name...it's a bit pricey and I may try it some day. joyce

It will good to hear from others.

Gr8-Dophilus, a NOW product, is enteric coated so it delivers it's eight

strains of 4 billion probiotics directly to the intestine and requires no

refrigeration. I get mine at iHerb.com. It's been said that immune health

begins in the gut. I think probiotics have help me.

I use Udo's Choice super 8 Hi-Potency Probiotic. I pick it up from my Chiro's office and it only cost abut $20/month. Seems to be a good product, my digestive system has calmed down a lot compared to the past!

Culturelle worked well for us along with Custom Probiotics CP-1.

Bacteria seemed to be the main cause of my son's constipation.

PRObiotics only increase the GOOD bacteria! So from my understanding, they are

all safe to use. It's ANTIbiotics that we need to be very careful about. I have

also heard the acidophilus is the best one for treating yeast infections.

Probiotics with strep... strain make my child rage. We use Culturelle and do

not have any problems with it. It is also GFCF.

I've been doing alot of research because my son has yeast and acid reflux

problems. I found out that probiotics can cause acid reflux, as well as eggs,

chicken, beef and some nuts. I can't continue with the SCDiet because these

foods are causing acid reflux, I just can't go with the foods that cause yeast

but acid reflux as well. I just don't know what I'm going to feed my son. I

welcome any suggestions.

Thank you.

My 15 yo has been GFCF since age 5yo but not SCD. He can eat potatoes and

Canadian Bacon or Ham without too much reflux. Most other foods do cause

reflux. Culturelle probiotic does not cause reflux and it helps him a lot.

Probiotics with strep strains in them do cause reflux - at least the Kirkman

brand does.

This is just pure speculation, but I'm raising betta fish fry and having pretty

good luck - none of them are getting sick or anything. I met someone who has

been doing it for years and hasn't had as good luck. He thought maybe it was

what I was feeding them. I've been feeding mine a kind of nematode (small worm)

that lives on a grain/yeast mixture. They actually eat the yeast and bacteria

that grow in the culture.

When you mix the grains and yeast (I used either oats or barley flour) you get

all the wild bacteria that are also in sourdough. I'm starting to wonder if part

of the reason my fish are doing so well is the probiotic effect of all these

" sourdough " bacteria that get in the water because they're covering the

nematodes.

Many professional breeders say you're lucky if half the fry make it to

adulthood. Out of a spawn of around 200 I think so far we've only lost around

12. Since the male betta fish each need their own container as they get bigger,

it's kind of a problem!

I also wanted to share we put our dogs on a very low carb but fairly high fat

diet when we switched them away from commercial dog food. They're both losing

weight (they were fat). They don't seem hungry much of the time, just at

mealtime. It's got me inspired to try again at the Eat Fat, Lose Fat thing.

I have tried many brands of probiotics and the ones I found work the best are from custom probiotics (www.customprobiotics.com). When you call they can recommend which strasins are best for you. I have no financial interest in this company. They have made a huge difference for me. Also use magnesium glycinate for constipation. janFrom: aly ashour

If you have constipation you might want to use another form of

magnesium,

like the citrate form, instead of mag. glycinate which doesn't loosen

stools.

like other forms. Do a search.

My Doc has me brewing Rejuvelac to get real living multi-strain bacteria. Very easy and inexpensive to make.

I like making it with rye - better taste - althiugh it can be made from other grains.

Re: [low dose naltrexone] Probiotics

there are a lot of health food stores that insist the only probiotics that work are the kind that are in the fridge -thats the hype.

i also recommend aloe juice just like 30 cc 's in the evening for a few weeks to help heal the gut.

and if your taking fiber you must drink drink drink
