Guest guest
I wanted so bad to use GSE for my son but his IGG showed that grapefruit was very high. It's like a puzzle at times because each child is different, they have their very own biological makeup and we have to find out what works for them. > > > > Could anybody recommend a probiotic that might be tolerated by my > > super reactive son? Guest guest
Most probiotics don't have a strong taste--does she drink orange juice? I've found that effective. You can open the capsule and shake it up in the juice. purplanne <purplemommy@...> wrote: Okay, now with my other dilemma. The chewable probiotics I've been using just aren't effective. Can you tell me what you have used and how to get it in the child? Guest guest
Hi, I have the same issue with my 3 year old son, he doesn't eat what every one else eats, as a matter of fact I still puree his food to make sure he gets all his nutrients. I give him Primadophilus for Children by nature's way, it has no taste & it comes in in a powder that can be mixed with anything, I have enclosed the link, I hope this helps you. You can get this at any Wild Oats if you have one in your area. They also have Primadophilus for adults, I take them myself. Guest guest
Hi, A real quick comment about Pro-Bio Gold: I am using it for my son, but I had to start out w/ really small amounts b/c he could not tollerate the whole dose at first. So be careful with how much you give at the begining. I started with 1/4 once a day for a week, 1/2 once a day for a week, and so on until he built up to the full amount. i made the mistake of giving him a whole chewable the first day it came in and OMG!!! Let's just say it wasn't pretty. Now he is doing great on them. I hope this helps out. > > Kirkman's Pro Bio Gold. Guest guest
We use the Activia every night for dinner, and it seems to do the trick (with 1 additional chewable probiotic--Houston, as well as their enzymes) and our daughter, ASD 10 yrs old, has finally become regular; every other day she produces a BM, I would like every day, but that is something we can tackle in the near future. Good luck, aprilcullins <aprilcullins@...> wrote: Has anyone used the products Danactive and/or Activia so assist with positive gut healing or just to keep a balance. Guest guest
April - I know that Dana has eliminated strep in her children with Olive Leaf Extract. Also give lots of vitamin c. We use the kirkman's buffered vitamin c powder and mix it in juice. Hope your son is feeling better soon. Do you give any probiotics now? We now use the chewable pro-bio gold from Kirkamn's which works well. We started out at half the tablet and worked up. We don't use the yogurts you listed but dd has a stoneyfield organic yogurt once a day. > Has anyone used the products Danactive and/or Activia so assist with > positive gut healing or just to keep a balance. Guest guest
Just make sure and get a repeat strep throat culture no matter what you are giving, rx or natural methods of clearing the strep. Untreated or ineffective strep treatment can lead to devastating heart and/or kidney problems and shorten a child's life. It has happened to many kids. I don't have a problem with using natural methods of clearing the strep...but you don't want to mess around with a less than totally effective strep treatment. The throat culture takes less than a minute to adminster...well worth the time as you cannot tell from any symptoms, even a lack of symptoms if a strep infection has cleared. Guest guest
The food review I read said the yogurt caused diarrhea in the reviewers (I guess if constipation is not an issue this could be the result). I would also be concerned about the amount of sugar in there- prepared yogurt usually has so much (but that may not be an issue for you if you normally give your child yogurt). My other concern is I think the bacteria these yogurts have are not " native " to the gut (correct me if I'm wrong, I believe they've made up a new strain so they could patent it & put it in their yogurt?) There's lots of other options http://www.enzymestuff.com/probiotics.htm 2 cents, M. > > Has anyone used the products Danactive and/or Activia so assist with > positive gut healing or just to keep a balance. I think high strength probiotics are capable of a number of protective and soothing effects on the system and I always take one. However, if you are prioritising because of the almighty cost involved in trying to overcome this illness, whether it's ESSENTIAL probably depends largely on whether you are experiencing yeast/candida symptoms. Of course, you could compromise and take a high strength one for one or two weeks each month. Best Wishes, Carolyn PS Yes, both coffee and cigarettes are hard to give up, though I find I don't even think of cigarettes when I'm not drinking alchol, as at present. With coffee, I try to stick to one a day, but confess that I have started to have a second in the afternoon recently. My danger point will be when I'm in Italy next month, as 2 weeks there without a glass of red wine is unthinkable, not to mention the delicious staples of the Italian diet, which may not be ideal for this condition! All the more reason to keep on with the probiotics! Guest guest
The live ones need refrigeration to preserve them. The heat destroys them. There are ones that are prepared to be kept out of the refrigerator but in my experience..the frige ones seem more effective, you don't have to consume as much to get the same result. We use Jarrow Acidophilus. They are moderately priced. Shop around and see what your health food store has in the fridge. Look for something that has cultures in the billions. 3-5 billion. If you need one that is dairy free, check for that also on the label. My kids are milk free and the Jarrow does not bother them. Kirman are worth it if you have to go that route. > > Why do some probiotics needs to be refridgerated and some don't?
