Guest guest
Does anyone know of a good Probiotic for a child of 4? Does taking this eliminate the need for taking all gluten out of a child's diet? ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
no, but i have heard that people use digestive enzymes if they don't want to do the diet. probiotics - try kirkmans - pro bio gold - chewables are easy for my 4 yr old. We use 1 to 4 per day. > > Does anyone know of a good Probiotic for a child of 4? Guest guest
Hi , Taking a probiotic does not take the place a a gf/cf diet. takes 2 .1 is by Klaire Labs Ther-Biotic Complete, and the other is HLC Mindlinx by Pharmax. Guest guest
, Probiotics do not take the place of the GFCF diet. However, we have had tremendous success with gut healing by sticking to the GFCF diet, getting rid of yeast, and taking a great probiotic which seems to help cure leaky gut syndrome (in conjunction with the diet, not in place of). We use HMF Neuro Powder (or Neuro Capsules) by Genestra. This probiotic is specifically designed for people who have neurological and intestinal problems. The powder can be mixed with food or juice for a 4 year old to take. It is completely allergen free and is derived from human intestinal bacteria rather than milk like many other probiotics. We are to the point now where my 8.5 yo son can tolerate some gluten and casein with digestive enzymes (I didn't try these foods without the enzymes) and show no signs of regression either neurologically or digestively (Is that a word?). Hope that helps! Guest guest
Can a younger child take this? > Does anyone know of a good Probiotic for a child of 4? Guest guest
Yup, anybody can take this stuff, that's why it comes in powder form - for the younger set who can't swallow the capsules. I have been giving this to my now 3 yo since he was 2 with excellent results. I just sprinkle it in his fake milk and we're good to go. Guest guest
Gee, so glad I went to two Gi's and a nutritionist and wound up getting better probiotic help from you:) > > Does anyone know of a good Probiotic for a child of 4? Guest guest
Nope, probiotics do not take the place of the gfcf diet. Some kids take them who never use the gfcf diet but if you want gluten and casein out of your kids diet, then you have to do gfcf. Probiotics are a good thing to add to your kids diet whether they are gfcf or not. Guest guest
I was using kirkman probio gold and didn't se much difference either. I started my DD on VSL#3 and we saw a difference in two days (very loose bowels) and she seems to be in better mood(giving hugs and kisses vs pulling hair and less frustrated). Guest guest
you take the probiotics in a pill form, this way you don't consume milk. Read up on brobiotic, just because it sounds like you have to take milk you don't do this with the pills. Eva wiccantwinpaths <Shilnagig@...> wrote: The protocol states that one must not consume milk products, but then it states that to replace the good bacteria in the intestines one has to use probiotics (acidophilus, yogurt, buttermilk, etc.) All of which are milk products. Since the antibiotics are only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, is there a best day of the week to eat the probiotic milk product that doesn't interfere with the antibiotic? How much or little of the probiotics should one consume? Thanks
Guest guest
Hi, You take the pro-biotics at least two hours after the antibiotics, for exactly the reasons you mentioned, and also to have some survive. Yoghurt is not enough, you need a need a product with billions active cells. Mine has 10 billion. I take one a day, away from the abx. I have no yeast problems. For some that is not enough. Guest guest
I will check and see what the health food store has. Just in case. Guest guest
Hi Beth, I take Natural Factors double strength Acidophilus & Bifidus. I get it at the Food Coop. I'm sure there are other good products. Some people think it is important to get coated ones that won't dissolve until getting into the gut. I have been doing well on this one, so I'm sticking with it.
