Cherie,I wish we had some type of test we could do over the net . . . and that we had a formula that was surefire for addressing these issues.I am confused when you say you were on a yeast free diet. . . Do you

mean antifungal diet? . . . A yeast free diet is something else

entirely. All I can do is hazard a guess . . . First . . . do you understand the difference between an antifungal and a probiotic? . . . In terms of warfare, the antifungal would be the heavy armor bombing the place to smithereens, the probiotics would be the foot soldiers coming in to clean up the enemy who found a place to hide. If the fungal organisms got some really good meals while you were off the diet, they may be strong and healthy again . . . The probiotics would be more of a nuisance than a threat. You may have to back up and use an antifungal (Caprylic Acid is the fastest, cheapest thing I know) for a while. However, based on how you react, if you use Caprylic Acid, you'll need to work up to 3600 mg. daily very slowly. Don't try to do it too fast or the enemy will mount a counter offense that will make you feel awful. You can expect some discomfort though. It should be easier to do than it was before because you

weren't off the antifungal diet long.I wish this was easier! . . . But I can tell you are really motivated! . . . You'll get there . . . hopefully sooner rather than later.Hugs and prayers,Rogene

Rogene,

I'm on the candida diet and gluten-free. Sorry for the confusion.

I want to make sure I have this straight, I should take my anti-

fungal (oreganacillin) for a while and then stop and start my

probiotics? My ND wanted me to take both at the same time. What you

are telling me makes more sense. Why take probiotics if I'm killing

it with a anti-fungal....?

Thanks so much for helping me, your such a blessing! Yes, I am a

fighter and I am winning this battle!

Hugs,

Cherie

Cherie,What I'm telling you is what Dr. Rubin recommends. . . Obviously I'm not a doctor, but I do respect Dr. Rubin's recommendations. It might be that the increased distress you have with probiotics is because you're taking them with an antifungal. . . I think it would be worth trying just an antifungal, then probiotics. . . Just keep in mind that eating healthy is just as important as anything else you do.In your case, you probably need to isolate those foods that cause you distress at the same time. I know it can be confusing. It's a mystery . . . but one you can solve.Hugs,Rogene

Cherie,

One thing you might ask your ND about is NAET therapy. It's used to

relieve people of food sensitivities. I had your exact same

symptoms, bloating with EVERYTHING I ate. I did an food panel

allergy test to find out what I'm sensitive to and then had NAET

therapy so that I can eat those foods now w/o reaction. My son's

occupational therapist recommended it because she had 4 kids w/

severe allergies and behavior problems. They had the NAET therapy

and now can eat anything they want and are super successful in school

now...to the point one was kicked out of school for poor behavior in

7th grade. Now he's an honor student and class president.

This Friday I'm going to have NAET therapy for C vitamins because for

some reason I'm not absorbing it. It basically involves holding a

vial of whatever you are sensitive to while the doc manipulates your

spine w/ a tool. You then fast for 25 hours or at least avoid that

particular food or vitamin. After 25 hours you should be able to

tolerate it. It is kind of expensive though, but what a relief to

eat things w/o discomfort and reaction! Love, PH

Hi Ph,

Wow girl, your filled with great info! I have not heard of NAET

therapy. I will ask my hydrotherapist on Sunday about it. I haven't

talked to my ND is a couple of weeks, he doesn;t know what I've been

doing lately. I discovered that calling him is good but I really

have to determine what works for me. Ya know how it goes, ND's really

just listen to what to have to say and have you try different things

until you find the right one. He likes to tell me to come in and see

him to discuss new issues and I do not want to spend $98.00 for that

visit, I will wait to talk to the hydrotherapist first. So far what

the ND has recommened has not brought me relief. What was your

experience with your ND?

Cherie,

The probiotics tear my tummy up! It gets better as I take them but

the first few times I was sick to my stomach! If and when I take it,

I take it right before I go to bed with a lot of water.

Geez, we are both so sensitive to supplements.

PH,

How did you find a chiroprator who offered so much? I would love to

find one. Did you call around or Google something specific?

Thanks!

PH,

I do have chiro coverage, I see one now but he is in no way

holistic. I will have to make some calls. It is tough because I

live in such a small town.

I got one of the 3 books I ordered today. Feast Without Yeast -

excited to read it.

Hi Lynn,

Tell me how that book is. I've wanted to get it. Good luck w/

finding a chiro. The ones I saw didn't advertise as holistic either

but offer a lot of holistic services like EFT, reiki, kineseology and

homeopathy. Check them out anyway. Love, PH

Wow, ! Seems like you found a great doctor and better yet,

insurance provides coverage.

I found one too. She is not in my network but insurance will pay

60%. I will make that work if I have to!!

How are you? I miss chatting with you. I hope all is well. I hope

your mother's birthday went well too.

OT: Saw some discussion of probiotics. Two new studies were recently published showing that multiple probiotics actually cancel each other out; immune system effects were seen ONLY when single-strain probiotics were used.

This was stunning news to me, as I’ve taken a very expensive 10-strain probiotic ever since I first got CFS 6 years ago. I’ve now switched to a single strain. Here are the research summaries:

http://www.ei-resource.org/news/candida- & -gut-dysbiosis-news/individual-probiotic-bacteria-have-biggest-immune-effects/

Well, wait. I went and read the article, and it seems that’s an issue with certain functions of the probiotics (cytokine production?) but not all. They said the multiple strains can still work well for digestive issues and other things. As usual, nothing is totally clear cut.

Still, very interesting stuff. I think I’ll switch to a single strain and see what happens.

OT: Saw some discussion of probiotics. Two new studies were recently

published showing that multiple probiotics actually cancel each other out;

immune system effects were seen ONLY when single-strain probiotics were

used.

This was stunning news to me, as I’ve taken a very expensive 10-strain

probiotic ever since I first got CFS 6 years ago. I’ve now switched to a

single strain. Here are the research summaries:

also studies released show that probiotics can worsen an impending or active pancreatitis--a few people died!! if youre prone to pancreatitis and have the usual pain/warning signs--STOP all probiotics immediately until well after youre over it!!

( google pancreatitis probitoics if you need info)

I stopped all supps/pills etc and switched to daily cup of Kefir--has about 10 organisms naturally fermented into it--tastes like a yogurt drink but not too high in sugars..depending upon flavor

and has done a LOT for me--Im on long term abx for Lyme and also have GI absorpiton problems etc--my GI stuff has calmed down considerably, able to regain weight and my nutritional status is now within normal limits

BUT should I even get a hint of my recurring pancreatitis I will temporarily and immed stop

( as I just posted new studies linking probiotics and pancreatitis to death)

Hello,

I'm writing an article about probiotics (for "Living Without" magazine) and I'd like to read the research you refer to. Where can I find it?Thanks, -----Original Message-----From: casehealth@...Sent: Sat, 14 Jun 2008 12:06:40 +1000low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Probiotics

Just thought this might be of interest to anyone presently taking

probiotics (eg acidophilous etc) ...

Every so often I take a local product, Inner Health Probiotics (non-dairy,

refrigerated) - always in the morning because to me, being a digestive aid,

it makes sense to take it when the digestive system is powering up and at

its best.

Now some recent research has raised a question mark around probiotics (no

brand mentioned) - on suspicion they could cause an adverse affect in the

small intestine.

I remembered one occasion when I took a probiotic at night, just before

bed, and it didn't sit well with me.

For me, the recent research added weight to taking probiotics in the

morning (rather than at night) - a full day for processing so they don't

linger too long in the tummy or small intestine. Just some food for thought

(no pun intended lol!),

kind regards,

Cris

Don't take everything you read about these various trials that knock proven results that have been used for years, if not centuries.

When something starts cutting in on Big pharmas profits, they gonna get ugly. Many of these trials are rigged and have no chance of succeeding.

Wishin' I wuz Fishin'!

That's an awesome question!! I was wondering the same thing today as

well. After you heal the gut do you just stay on probiotics forever

or whats the deal?
