Guest guest
First of all, take her for a second opinion. Your ped was a jerk for not doing anything. What meds is she on? Could it be a side effect like kidney stones? (Topomax causes kidney stones.) What is her urine like? Smelly? Different color? Has she been exposed to a kid with the chicken pox? Has anyone else been changing her diapers lately or have you changed diapers, detergent, soap? Just trying to help with all of these questions. Keep us informed. Melinda Help Please, my daughter is screaming with diaper changes Hi everyone, I am desperate for any ideas or advice that any of you can offer. My daughter who is 21 months old is acting very strangely this past week. She is going absolutely nuts when I go to change her diaper. She seems to have extreme pain and has even started shaking as if she is in excrutiating pain sometimes. She holds her legs very tight and turns over on her side to keep me from wiping her. I can't figure it out. She has had a little redness off and on and does have a few red, pimple like spots on her lower abdomen. I took her to the pediatrician who told me that there was nothing wrong with her and that it was just behavioral. I tried to explain to him that this wasn't the case but he started getting upset and yelling at me and sayihng "he couldnt' find anything on his assessment and unless she developed a fever or nausea that there was nothing further for him to do". Well, I am not convinced that she is okay and absolutely know that it is not behavioral! The only thing I can think of is maybe shingles? Do children of this age get shingles?? She has the pimple like rash on her lower abdomen/ waist line area but nothing more. She had the varicella vaccine about 3-4months ago..... Anyway, please if you can relate or help please email me. THank you so much. YOu guys are the BEST!!! Don't know what I would do without this list. Guest guest
Just a thought without seeing the rash - yeast infection causes my daughter to have a few little red pimples on the front, more if it gets worse, and it can burn or itch. Is her vaginal area redder than it normally is? For yeast you need a myclonex or something but instead of using one that is internal, I've always used one that it a cream - even getting a jock itch or athlete's foot anti-fungal cream (there is a generic ant-fungus cream at our grocery store that is called by the generic name that works really well.) ª¿ª Kathy Cell kgt@... > Help Please, my daughter is screaming with diaper > changes > > > > Hi everyone, > > I am desperate for any ideas or advice that any of you can offer. Guest guest
, My daughter who is now 12, and diagnosed with complex IV deficiency, used to become very aggitated and almost combative when we laid her on her back. I don't remember how we figured it out, but somewhere around the age of two or three, we realized that she was dizzy when we laid her on her back, on a changing table, or any area that was high up off the ground. Our ped was actually the one that suspected it one time in his office after watching her behaviour. Not sure if this is the case with your daughter but you might watch and see. We used to do as much as we could with her sitting, as far as visits to the ped, and diaper changes were a bit exciting, but we tried to do things like change her on the floor rather than on the changing table. I can remember him yelling at a nurse one time, because she insisted that caitlin lay down for a procedure. She was obviously panicked and he intervened and made them let her sit up. You might look into this and see if it applies. Jeannine - good luck! By the way, sounds like your ped needs a lesson in bedside manner and courtesy.
